Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Although not from Liverpool my Everton journey started in the 60’s, if ever asked why , well the long answer is complicated so I give the short one “ How could you not love a team who had a player called The Golden Vision ?”
I would say I hit my peak in the Catterick era and the 69/70 team and “ GordonwesttommywrightkeithnewtonHoward kendalbrian labone colinharveyjimmyhusband Alan balljoeyroyle johnnyhurst jonnymorrisseyHarryCatteric, ….Harrycattericharrycatteric Harry Catterick to the tune of Hare Krishna still trips off my tongue .! Those early ‘70s were a bit dire but I followed them home and away until moving south in 77 . Thereafter it was mainly away matches in London and the S East . The Kendall era was magnificent, but kids , family life and feeling definitely on edge exiting away grounds in a different direction from other Evertonians gradually reduced my live match attendance. But….once a Blue always a Blue , although for 5 minutes once I did contemplate turning, but that’s another story!
Loved that Hari Krishna chant. ;)It trips seamlessly from my tongue too, (although I struggle to remember what I had for breakfast)
Personally I always include Sandy Brown rather than Kieth Newton though.

Yes indeed , I’ve had the Sandy Brown / Keith Newton conversation a few times , Sandy is obviously right too , I know Newton joined us half way through the League winning season so I think Brown played more games that season , Newton the next . I remember Sandy always had his own two liner of “ Who’s the player with the most? Sandy Brown with beans on toast!” Happy days 🙂!

I still remember the diving header that Sandy Brown scored for Liverpool against us at GP. A fantastic header that unfortunately went into his own goal…pillock…I can still see it now………,
Remember that well, and after the game Sandy was thumbing a lift I stopped and said which way you heading Sandy , he said don’t you start :)

Morning all, well our mornings don’t seem to be getting lighter any earlier , and it’s wet and miserable here! Today it’s final preparations for our “ Sair Heidie” 4.5 mile run which takes place around the town on 1st January . It’s being going for well over 20 years and I somehow “ inherited “ the Organiser “ role about 6 or7 years ago . It’s a very social , low key run with all the money raised going to a local charity . Looking at the weather , the worst bits will be putting out the Direction Arrows first thing and standing outside timing the runners as they finish. It’s usually good fun though , so 🤞for the weather.
