True, but ultimately those two players have been grim all season, and the manager hasn't acted on it.

Howard should have been dropped, and if he doesn't trust Joel then a 'keeper should have been the priority in January.

And Lukaku cannot play effectively in the system we're playing, so two questions - why pay £28m for him after having a full season to assess him and, if you do pay £28m for him, why aren't you playing to his strengths?

Don't get me wrong, Lukaku was terrible beyond any excuse today, but the manager picks the team and has shaped how this team plays, and he's the manager who has taken this squad to the lows where we are today. He's ultimately to blame.

Yep especially when up against 3 centre halves like today - That was crying out for the introduction of Kone to go 2 up front. The fact that we have hardly (if at all) seen Rom and Kone playing together since Jan is criminal on the part of the manager.

Next season.

He had one good season and one bad season.

What the pro bobby supporters are saying is that we should give him a third to reveal which one is the real him.

We have another season like this, next year, and everyone will want him gone. But most fans are prepared to give him one bad season the way they gave Moyes one bad season.
Exactly - You don't know what happened last summer.

Did we have our eye on a left creative player who in the end we didn't get?
Did he expect Pienaar to play this year?
Was he expecting the injury and then drop off in form from Barkley?
The injuries through out the whole team early on?

We know he doesn't like spending money in January something I don't agree with that but plenty of managers think the same plus it could also be down to financial considerations that he doesn't want to go into so I'm prepared to see how he fixes the problems when he has the chance. I'll judge him then.

For now it's a case of getting to the end of the season but it's tough going.

He's had one bad season after an awesome season last year.

Do you really want us to be a club that is constantly changing their manager every year? Could financially we even be a club to do that? Would that not give the players the license to act like tits knowing a new guy would be brought in?

Moyes brought us top 8 stability however it took a few years and I know Martinez has had a better squad but we also won't finish as low a 17th.

I admit my patience is wearing thin but the consequences of getting rid even in the summer are huge. It's in all our interests to give him at least another window and until Christmas.

A club like us will always have to gamble

Martinez's subs made the difference today. Gibson and Atsu were both great and would have changed the game but for a bearded clown's incompetency in performing basic errors.
I feel like while he has to bear some of the brunt for bringing him back into the team I would expect Premier League goalkeepers to deal with those 10/10 times. Robles has to be number one as this has been a continual trend with Howard.

When Gibson came on today he made a big difference to our play. In the first half we never had players making runs in behind the defence and beyond Lukaku, but once Gibson came on that changed! Players made forward runs, knowing they'd get a pass or ball over the top from deep off of Gibbo cos they know he can play and execute those passes all day long. Him coming on with his forward thinking play put us on the front foot a lot more and we looked more dangerous going forward.

When teams are so disciplined and have there 2 banks of 4-5 and sit deep, you need to have a player who can pick a pass but also have players who are willing to run beyond the striker and pull players out of position which creates space and we lacked that first half, Gibbo came on and changed that, players were willing to make runs instead of staying stationary cos we had a player on the pitch that looked forward and was capable of picking the necessary passes to make us a threat.

The result is gutting, make no mistake. Howard made 2 errors he shouldn't of and Lukaku could of had an hat trick but when teams play against us and be stubborn, don't allow us to play, Martinez as to have us doing more to combat that. Too many times this season were too pedestrian and slow in possesion, our passing isn't quick enough and doesn't pull these stubborn teams all over the pitch which creates gaps to go into, which our sideways passing is intended to do, go from one side of the pitch and back and forth to pull teams apart and open things up, but our play is to slow and we can't create spaces. And it doesn't help when you haven't got players on the pitch that force the issue and play forward balls, or have players willing to make selfish runs to pull players out of position to create space for others.

That all changed when Gibson came on but the likes of Barry, McCarthy & Besic have to take that responsibility when in the side and too many times this season they just haven't.

Thats no excuse for the dire stuff this year.

It ain't no. This year is unacceptable and if I thought this was the best he could do then by all means get rid.

But he's done better. It's the hope that we'll see that side of this team again which is why you keep him through a bad season.

Like if he had never finished above 12th in the prem, fair enough, he just isn't up for it. But last year we were 5th so he can do it. I'm not willing to write that year off as the exception rather than this until he gets a third.

I honestly wonder what the breaking point for people who are saying 'no' is?

Not unless and until we exit the Europa.

I am now convinced we will not go down so I see little point in sacking him this season unless there is a top class replacement lined up and available to start right away.

I am enjoying the ride in Europe and I think we have a decent shout of going a long way there so I will cut him some slack there.

I can no longer watch the crab ball, ten passes along the back line against the likes of Baggies and Leicester then back to the goalkeeper crap.

I didn't like it when Barcelona were playing it and I sure don't like it when our motley collection are trying to play it.

I don't care if he brings in Xavi, Messi and Iniesta....tiki taki is not my cup of tea and I don't want it.

So yes.....let's see this season out and think of a new man by August.

Unless Bobby changes......which is what I would really like as I do like the bloke.
