Pretty pumped for this. No scientist myself, but like a lot of people have a keen interested in astronomy.

Stop starting wars would be my first place to stop wasting money rather than cutting scientific projects like this.

I watched it on Sky this morning and was glued to it. It might paint me as a bit of a saddo - and, honestly, i'm no bearded geek or anything - but this was ace stuff. I loved the sheer joy and elation etched across all the beaker-freaks grids as they knew they'd nailed it.

Well done to them all, and here's looking forward to some quality images etc being beamed back.

(although I'd much rather see an image if Jessica Ennis in the shower)

Agreed, I should have put a footnote on the thread stating no government bashing allowed. It's science, they develop beneficial technologies by doing these sort of missions! Absolutely amazing engineering. Not to mention what discoveries could be made from it.

I like it because it's pushing the envelope. It's something mankind has never done before, and that's kinda what humanity is all about. Very exciting stuff.

True! What is humanity without development? That's what culture is based on. And it's not like the money gets thrown into the Planet Mars bank account. It actually gets recycled through the American economy.
