How in God's name have we arrived at a point where a manager newly installed (who everyone knew and admitted at the beginning of the season was walking into a mess and needed time), is facing calls for his dismissal? Just as if the next manager coming in will have a magic wand to get this sorted out so we're at least 7th in his first full season?!

It's just unreasonable. We were "A ok" up to the derby and then there's been a collective loss of nerve since then...easy to happen when the team is full of youngsters and players new to the club. I have no idea if Silva is the right man. What I do know is that no one is the right man if you give them 6 months to clean up this disaster zone.

How many managers do we need to go through before we finally hear that penny drop?
I think some people would prefer it if we were Watford or Leeds pre-Bielsa and sacked a manager every season.

Silva must be given time...

We have a two week break now, time to reshape & come back stronger...

Sacking him now would prove nothing...

We have to give him a decent crack at this...

He has 27 games which is a decent crack just like BFS.

It couldn't be that I'm right like in suggesting it's way OTT to demand the sacking of a manager who's at midtable without any cutting edge whatsoever provided to him all season because the club said we had actual forwards in the shape of those wax work dummies up front?

I wont join in with that pitchforking.

Wins the derby he's a hero. That's how daft all this is.
Yet Allardyce somehow managed to made them solid, grabbed some wins and finished 8th. Silva has better players at his disposal and is doing worse.
Allardyce was tasked with parking the bus, not playing costructive football. It takes a bit more chance taking doing the latter.

What I don't get is what the hell happened to us. We were doing OK at the beginning of the season, and now everything's gone to hell. What happened? Injuries? Dressing room drama? What?
Pickford? Why? He’s a lunatic who frequently loses concentration and doesn’t really command much respect. He’s a decent lad with good potential but he’s less of a better option than Davies as captain imo.
Because I honestly don't know who else would. I mean, I'd go with Coleman as my first choice but apparently he's not captain material either.

Undecided. Give him till the end of the season but if he continues to be dreadful, get rid and DO NOT GET DUNCAN FERGUSON IN. Actually, that's a topic in itself.

OK, but who can we give it to? Who is the alternative? Serious question. Every single choice of captain we've had this season, no-one likes them.
  • Jagielka: the vast majority of you can't stand him and moan about how he's too nice, spineless, and not a leader because he doesn't shout at refs or whatever.
  • Baines: see above, plus he's a lot shyer and quieter than Jags is.
  • Coleman: I thought he was captain material but nope, no-one likes him now either because he's not good enough.
  • Davies: too young.
So who's next? Shall we give it to Walcott? Sigurdsson? The cat?
It can be anyone. We need leaders but if they are called the captain or not it does not matter. Peter Reid, Andy Gray etc. Not captains but leaders.

This is not an everton team. This team are a disgrace to the shirt. This team are a disgrace to the values of the club.

He is the manager.

Therefore he needs to go.
Really? I could have sworn it was an Everton team, what with them wearing Everton shirts and everything.

What are the values of the club? Being rubbish? Not beating Liverpool? And don't say nil satis blah blah because it doesn't mean anything.

No-one cares about the shirt anymore. There is no loyalty in football. Ross Barkley did a great job of proving that.
This team is modern football personified. These players are the reason people are falling out of love with the game.
They're no different from any other bog standard mid-table side. I know you must all think I'm a massive bitch for saying it, but I'm being realistic. Everton are a mid-table side and that is all we are. We're like Bournemouth, Southampton, Watford, Brighton.

Tbh social media and this place are making me fall out of love with the game, but that's another thread.

No it’s not.

It us one of the few decent things to have happened thus season....one of our own, a young Blue doing what all of us have daydreamed about all our lives.

Skippering Everton.

That's nice. Having our captain sitting on the bench all season because he isn't good enough and then making him captain out of the blue. Really sends a positive message out that doesn't it, doesn't matter if you don't get a game because you can still be captain.

Captain used to mean something at Everton. Radcliffe, Watson and then half the team this season.

I mean Jesus gomes was winning the Euros whilst Davies was still in the academy. Hows he meant to command respect out of players like that?
Undecided. Give him till the end of the season but if he continues to be dreadful, get rid and DO NOT GET DUNCAN FERGUSON IN. Actually, that's a topic in itself.

There's the point, we keep passing the armband out like it means nothing. Why don't we give it to someone who actually plays every week?

Having so many captains defeats the point of having a captain and it shows the lack of leadership on the pitch. Because jags is captains unless he doesn't play, then it's baines, but he doesn't play, so it's Coleman, then he doesn't play so then it's Davies.......

Most of our captains don't even get on the pitch most weeks. Can you not see the ridiculous side of that?

Most teams have a captain who drags the team every week when they are underperforming and are a voice on the pitch. The captain is the man everyone else looks to for that leadership. We have whoever happened to be fit that week as ours.

It's embarrassing. I
