Lol as if there would be that clause.

Moshiri went after Silva as if he was the second coming.

Couldn't make it up. Prob wants biggest compensation of any manager in prem.

Jeez.

Probably more like 16 million then, If we get rid of Silva.

Bobby took the club to court and got about 12

Ronald is still getting a wedge so that's probably another 10

And Fat Sam got at least 6

Everton FC everybody.
I’m available, and, unlike moonhead, would even give up golf for a bit to whip the team into shape. So what if it goes wrong, minimum £6m payoff, just the job.

We're actually still paying Martinez I think.
I would desperately hope that there is a clause in Silva's contract that goes along the lines of "if you are crap we pay out the rest of that season only".

Doubt it.

“If he’s really good and Barcelona want him, do they only have to pay one seasons compensation?”.....

Would be the immediate counter argument from any competent agent.

Surely, after being stung by Martinez and Koeman, there was a get-out clause in Silva's contact? Something like £1m payoff if they don't want you after the first season.

He was out of work at the time and there didn't seem many other clubs after him. He couldn't of had that much bargaining power.

We weren’t “stung” by Martinez and Koeman, Z.

They were fired and we had binding contractual agreements to pay their salaries for the remainder.

Football management at the top level is a crazy world.....you can make more money for failng than you can for being successful :(

But them’s the rules.

Ross Barkley.....now there’s a bugger who proper stung us.

Collapsing a deal which cost us near enough £20 million and taking top quid off us every week as we nursed him back to health so he could a get bigger cut when he did move six months later.

And Watford stung us....getting whatever we ended up paying them to employ a dud manager they had fired :)

I would say 2 and a bit mate the rest of the third was awful cumulating in the Analfield derby and the semi.Having said that the 1st season was a joy.

We blew it in that first season. We lost three of our last five games (two of which should have been a stroll), which bascally cost us a Champions League spot. We also got murdered 4-0 at Anfield, lost at home to Sunderland, and lost 4-1 to Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-final. Fifth with 72 points isn't all that, when it should have been fourth.

But we had nothing before that season so that was a great start for martinez, and we all thought it was the start of really good things.

Crystal Palace seems to have the city of Liverpools number. They are the ones that just schooled us right after we beat Arsenal.

The "interesting" thing was that the issue then is the issue now. But teams pressed our fullbacks deep and we had no Plan B. Just like teams see that our fullbacks now are bombing up and nobody is really covering for them. Again, with no plan B.

Yep it was the Palace game that finished us for 4th. That was the game that was rearranged when the wind was bad.

Completely forgot about that too. Some parts of the stadium came off, no?

I went from the highest highs during that Arsenal match to abject depression after that match. 4th was in OUR hands. And Pulis(iirc) sussed us out completely which everyone else followed suit for the rest of the year.

We had a few fifth place finishes with Moyes (not to mention an actual fourth place finish).

I remember the first season under Martinez as failure. We should have finished fourth, and we blew it. We murdered Arsenal 3-0 at Goodison, and drew 1-1 at their place, yet somehow managed to finish seven points behind them.
