Agree with you on people overreacting to anything critical of Silva
but surely your going a bit too far on the PC.
Lunatics is not a harmful word surely. More endearing I'd thought.
Not in comparison to a word like '[Poor language removed]' or 'nutter'.

I deeply value the forum for its mental health advocacy,
but do you not think that at least some PC is contributing negatively to our mental health.
Blue Roo, if it was a one off occurrence, I’d agree with you. But for daring to question, or hold any negative opinion on this forum, I’ve had continuous jibes regarding my own mental health. Is someone crazy for holding these views?

Mad innit. Still got remements of the Moyes and Martinez squads and folks expect us to be pushing Spurs.
I've not seen many saying we should be pressing spurs in the match thread..

We've got a few hoping beyond hope for a sneaky one nil but the majority seem tge ev are destined to get their bums handed to them on a plate.

I remember the last embarrassing home defeat to spuds. I just hope we don't replicate that debacle

I must pushing Spurs in the table, Frank. It's been said.

It makes less sense than your posts, but it's still there.

Nice to see some self reflection from you.... The constant negativity is dull.

If I remember correct you were slating the manager after only 3 or 4 games. Silly.

Its easier to organise top level footballers to park a bus, kill games and try sneak wins like the last boss did so I dont think that "achievement" means much.

Building a new team and getting them to play a bit is a different challenge. Your only arguments seem to be a comparison of results and points total to last season and repeatedly mentioning a couple of the bad games we have had this season. Ignoring most of what anybody else is saying.

Are you saying that we should always sack managers who finish 8th or below regardless of any particular circumstances?

Neil, we've recently sacked a manager for finishing 8th in a dog's dinner of a season. What do you think will happen if Silva doesn't deliver more than that with a superior squad of players? All clubs have expectations.

If he doesn't finish at least 7th, he'll get the sack and deservedly so.

We have a proper DoF now, one who can identify a manager who will be able to improve us.

With that being said, I'm confident that we'll finish at least 7th, and possibly challenge for 6th, once we bring in a striker in January.
Not everything is as cut and dried as you suggest it is. Silva seems to be a man with a plan unlike the few that came before him. The playing has improved and even if it doesn't reflect in the results it does entertain. Allardyce ground out the results and finished in a decent position but the football was dire. I for one wouldn't mind Silva's missteps and finishing in a lower position this season as he gets the team playing to his philosophy. If there's no improvement next year then yeah, sack him by all means.

Playing to silvas philosophy and finishing lower than 8th and that's OK...

Weird.

Just. Weird

If his philosophy means finishing 12 then we may as well just jack it all in

That’s inaccurate for me. I am not particularly a fan of Martinez, but I feel he had a plan and style of play he wanted to implement. The problem was he did not have the players or the flexibility to implement it, except briefly with Moyes’ old guard.

Some of the doubts I have about Silva is I think he has a lot of the same weaknesses as Roberto for me.

Look at the attitude Ambramovic has. Moshiri hasn’t invested this money to be sitting behind the likes of Wolves in the table, getting knocked out of cup competitions by terrible teams and struggling to win both home and away games.

We have Brands as DoF now. He clearly has a more involved role than Walsh ever did. He will be picking the next manager.

Abramovic was spending more on players five years ago (when transfer fees were relatively low) than we are now.

I’m sorry to break this to you but it’s December.

Well, he is currently below a newly promoted team in the league and got knocked out of a competition at home to a team in a relegation fight, who incidentally sacked their manager.

He’s hardly a roaring success, is he?

What’s he actually changed here?

It might look a bit fancier, but it is yielding the same results.

By your logic, every team below Wolves is currently failing, then.

We're four months into turning an ageing side with no pace or playing style into the exact opposite. It's a long process.

The football is better, we're going to the big sides and not rolling over. If we'd have put our chances away - and not just half-chances, but big chances that the playing style has helped us create - we'd be a lot better off. That's obviously the next step.

Part of that will be recruitment. Part of that is sticking with a manager and a DoF and letting them implement their system over a longer period of time than four months.

Edit: Btw, I won't call you crazy. I don't think that's right. I do think your views are a bit weird though, and without logic. You were jumping on the new manager straight away, it's weird.

It's fine to be unconvinced. But we've taken clear steps in the right direction. We've got to stick with it instead of chopping and changing when there is absolutely no need to do so.

What if City had sacked Guardiola in his first season for finishing 4th and not winning a trophy?

While Guardiola's and Silva's records can't be compared, it's the same logic.

Silva isn't getting sacked barring a disaster. It's ludicrous to think otherwise. If we finish 9th, it isn't a disaster, as long as the clear building blocks are in place to build from.

But it's December, and we're exactly where you'd put us in terms of the quality of our squad, and that is in the chasing pack for 7th. Our aim is clearly to put a gap between ourselves and the others by the end of the season. With United's troubles, sixth could well be up for grabs.
