Everyone seemed to want someone to come in and create a pathway for the young players and stop wasting money on expensive dross. Brands seems to be suggesting this will now happen and we’re getting criticised for tying to be cheap? Only GOT.
It cant be done on the cheap. Shift emphasis away from buying expensive mediocrity and retaining older, past-it players and toward the academy? No problem. But it has to be done by maintaining and improving wage levels for quality players we want brought into the club to get the right squad balance.

If the emphasis now is on claw back on fees paid and reduce wage ceilings reached then we are in for a turbulent near future.

That's it. Unfortunately though some people didn't want that. Others may want it in theory but won't like the practice. Some will want it but perhaps lack the patience to let the process be seen through.

Even if Moshiri continues to pump money in (or Usmanov) unless there is a structure we will not get anywhere, as there will be lots of clubs who have equivalent (at best) and greater (worst) resources than us.

This is the first step and probably the most difficult. Hopefully everything after this summer will be adding to a successful system not fundamentally be altering it.

It won't be a quick fix, and it's not guaranteed success but it's probably our best chance.

All round game does matter tho , if it didn't ferguson wouldn't have dropped and sold van nistlroy in January when he had already notched 24 goals

It doesn't matter quite so much when the players all round games result in positive scorelines.

You dont think the art of handing press conferences is to get what YOU want across rather than hand out info to others that THEY want?

It isn't a circus act. He's not there to entertain reporters.

Thought the point was to answer questions ?

You say economise, I say getting value for money.

Anyone who thinks Moshiri has the financial clout to bridge the gap between us and the top 6 doesn't understand how big that gap is. About £100m-£200m a year.

The only way we'll compete is by doing things better - clear paths to the first XI to attract the best talent for example.

Moshiri could easily plough in £100mil a season...get the club into the champions league consistently and make his money back with a profit.

The most likely situation i think is that the decks will be cleared...new signings brought in and if we want specific expensive players Brands will need to convey this to Moshiri.

I dont think Moshiri is concerned about spending big money...he wants to see value first.

I cannot believe that there are still individuals that don't understand the D of F model. Silva is the head coach. That's it. He picks the team, he trains the team, he develops tactics, match strategy, etc. He doesn't have the time to accumulate the knowledge on potential transfers.

There can't be any conflict of interest, Brands is his boss, he has agreed to the philosophies set forth by Brands. Brands gets the players. Silva can tell him what he thinks he needs, he can do some research on players already identified and give a yes or no, but it's not his job. Lookman is good enough and fits their style of play. If Silva can convince Brands otherwise, maybe he sells him. But that's Brand's call. If Brands feels Silva isn't playing the right players or Silva starts saying no to Brand's players he's identified, he's gone, and on to a better coach.

Exactly. His money wasn't well spent before, he didn't get the performance he wanted, so he fired the decision makers.

The davek parody account continues.

Davek:We are tired of not being told the truth, of being run-around and being handled, we want straight truthful answers, this is a debacle.
Davek:These straight truthful answers are a horrible way to do things, he should be giving them the run-around, this is a debacle.

I believe that this is the way Brands will go about it.

Thats 1 of the reasons Brands has been brought in.

In 8 years at PSV he turned over 77m in profit on his transfers and they have still won 3 out the last 4 League titles.

Now of course its a different league hes now entered and vastly different figures, so it wont be easy to replicate the same sort of figures, but the fella knows his stuff IMO.

That’s extremely impressive. Know who his larger sales were? 52m outgoing in 2016 seems huge for that league in one season.

Invested for 4 years and then reaped the rewards as the players matured.
