Well we didn't make a profit on Rooney so we can start there.

The rest of it is down to opinion really. You have yours and every other sentient being in the world has a different one. They're both equally valid.

Thought we got Rooney on a free and sold him for a fee? No issues if I’ve missed that one.

Gana, Gylfi, Keane Pickford as I said all good buys, Schneiderlin decent, Vlasic and Lookman we will not lose out on.

Weight it up against Martinez’s incomings and it actually fares pretty well.

Kone, Eto, Atsu, Alcaraz, McGeady, Rodriguez,......need I go on?
his saving graces we’re Barry, Lukaku and McCarthy in his first season.

He signed Keane and Pickford, we could double our outlay on them both if we sold them. Gylfi was also a good purchase, Gana was an excellent purchase.

We made a loss on Klaassen, Martina cost little, Sandro was a free but high wages. Rooney was sold at a profit.

Williams was ok for a season, Bolasie was decent until his injury so can’t blame him for that, Schneiderlin was decent value for the money.

Sandro remains his “Niasse” moment, apart from that it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as made out in the market, his mistake was lack of cohesion with his purchases and too many players for similar positions.
I completely disagree with just about everything there. "Schneiderlin and Bolassie are decent buys".

Ha Ha. No...just NO.

No mate, no he wasn't.

Koeman’s team was absolutely horrific and no amount of revisionism can undo that. We would have been relegated under him, everyone could see it which was why he was fired so early, the performances were that clueless. No pace, no goal threat, no physicality, an injury crisis and absolutely nothing of note anywhere on the pitch. Prime relegation material. When we lost to Southampton I was convinced we were the worst team in the league by a distance.

Say what you want about Allardyce but he dropped Rooney deep, brought Davies in, put Lennon and DCL upfront to give us a shred of pace and drilled an ok back 4. It was a terrible team but he at least put out a balanced 11 of players that actually could play at this level (unlike Schneiderlin Mirallas Klaasen Sandro) that was enough to get us to safety. Koeman couldn’t even manage this piece of management 101.

I said Bolasie was decent until Injured, which was 3 months into his career with us, bit hard to judge on that basis alone as nobody is to blame for that.

Schneiderlin was lauded as a brilliant signing after his performances when he joined. Bad memory or just fickle?

You seen him at Palace too though?

Putrid.

Absolutely stunning levels of revisionism here. Cannot believe any sane evertonian considered that era anything other than diabolical in terms of transfers.

lol lol lol yes it was. He built the worst Everton team I’ve ever seen. Bolasie was garbage his entire career and he spent £30m on him.

I’ve said his plan of how he put the side together was poor, the signings he made though were not quite as bad as some are making out when you look at the players individually.

50 million on these two clowns. One got punted by Villa and Anderlecht and the other one got barred from training for a lack of professionalism in THAT 17/18 squad. Imagine being deemed unprofessional in comparison to Ashley Williams!

‘Decent buys’. Christ.

I didn’t say Bolasie was a “decent buy” I said he was “decent until his injury” which is my opinion.

Have you got deaf eyes or something?

He didn’t sign Walcott or Tosun

I stand corrected on Rooney, thought we sold him for a fee?
Fair point, my bad.

But I will say this. Many of the deals, although slight overpays, were not HORRIBLE by themselves. We aren't completely sunk because of them despite some posters opinions that we are. But collectively they made no sense with Klaassen being the worst of the bunch by a mile.

Certainly a missed opportunity, though, had those deals been better crafted, we'd be in a MUCH stronger position right now.

But again, in isolation they weren't terrible, but the squad collectively was. You don't agree with that?

Ok so
Pickford
Keane
Gana
Gylfi
Schneiderlin

All diabolical?

I think you’ll find the answer is a firm no.
Almost all of those players only showed their best when actually moulded into a squad by Silva at the end of last season. Moonhead bought a load of number 10’s and made the most bloated squad imaginable that probably would have got us relegated. We overspent massively on Sig, Davy and Bolasie etc. which buggered us financially too, with a load more crap on massive wages. He was a stain.

A sensible opinion in a sea of mouth frothing anger from others.
