I agree. He's hit and miss... but still head and shoulders our best midfielder. We missed him badly.

We really missed not having a big unit next to him to stop the opposition gliding through our midfield like soft cheese. We also missed not having another midfielder to take the burden of passing from him. Gblammo was the ideal foil for his inconsistencies.
You make a good point. Gomes on his day is a class act but is so inconsistent. Maybe getting a class player like Allan will bring the best out of him on a more consistent basis, instead of playing alongside Davies.

Bernard I’d say was good not excellent and with him being on a free I think he’s overall been a good signing. At nearly 30m Iwobi hasn’t done anything to justify that outlay.
Just the type of quote that separates us from the top echelons of the league. Us as fans are happy with a signing who can't get in a team that is mid table, has scored about 3 goals in two seasons and is an attacker. Happy with a bit part player because he was a free. Good signings walk into our team.......end of

Poor Brands with the FFP hanging over his head, making his job so difficult.....cant spend any money because of all these restrictions..........our money is so precious as a result.....
Why on earth then do we have a guy on 100k+ a week on the bench most weeks (Bernard), a $28 million centre half who is just as much injured as on the subs bench in Mina, a $28 million guy from Arsenal who has one good half against Norwich and we get excited, a $27 million centre forward who looks like he can't trap a bag of cement and again, likes to warm the substitutes bench, a $25 million centre mid who has one good game every ten. Yet we are so restricted by FFP and Brand's job is so difficult.......
Yes his job is difficult, that's what he gets paid for. We cannot make as many mistakes as Fergie at Utd. That's why we need the best to become the best. High standards are expected, and not just in choice of suit.

He’s a very good squad player and in his 2 seasons with us has shown he’s an excellent technical player, which is more than can be said for the other dross we’ve witnessed in our midfield ala scherderlein, Davies, Delph, Walcott

So why doesn't he start every week then? How does Anthony Gordon, with no premier league experience, and who is by no means some boy wonder, start ahead of him in a local derby? There are plenty of players around the world with top ball control. In the Premier league you need a lot more than that. It's about how effective you are on the pitch. Just because a player can pluck a ball down first time with ease does not mean he can cut it in the premier league.

People only remember his last 6 months.

For a long time during his spell with us (and still now tbf) our centre backs have been criminally exposed.
Running round chasing and harrying everything is good in one aspect of your game, but when you are the prime defensive midfielder you cant be running out of position like Gana did, leaving a massive hole infront of the defence.
If you are going to do that, your passing has to be better.
Henderson does that really well

He was our best player by an utter mile.

The poor passing thing is a total myth too. He was great at nicking a ball of an opponent and being absolutely everywhere. No matter who had the ball for us he was always available for a pass which was quite handy seeing as nobody else ever showed for it.

Mendes is a massive factor in that. He’s like their DOF, but with that comes a lot of control. If a decent team comes if for the likes of Neves, he’ll be off in a flash.
At least there's evidence to suggest that Neves would be replaced like for like. They know their system and they buy accordingly.

It seems like Everton just wait around to see who the elite clubs are hawking to satisfy their FFP requirements.

Can the people who have decided to criticize him all the time take a step back and consider that this club was more than two transfer windows from success when he took over. Thanks.
