Hasn't he already bombed out there before?
I doubt we have to worry about him going there
If Newcastle ever get this mythical Saudi money then I guess there's always a chance they could tempt him away
Whatever about Real Madrid - the biggest club in the world - tempting him back, if Moshiri and co lose him to a newly-minted Newcastle then they will be exposed as frauds. If Senor Benitez is to compete - which is what he says he is here to do - then he will need to be furnished with the fiduciary means to have a proper go. If Moshiri fails in this basic requirement to keep a key employee, then we may as well accept that we will never compete under the current ownership.
Given the financial rules, Newcastle, even under the despots, will not be able to do a City. That means that they can only offer so much to Benitez - and I would suggest nothing over and above what we could if Moshiri is putting his money where his mouth is. Now, however, if the Mosh is genuinely entering a period of protracted austerity, then Benitez will be well within his rights to follow the money and pitch his tent elsewhere. If you want to keep an elite coach, you need to allow him to compete. If Koeman and Silva can be allowed riches (that were pissed away), it's an obligation to afford the same courtesy to our tactically-astute Iberian overlord (providing Brands is nowhere near it when it comes to spending).
So, I have no fear of losing Senor Benitez. We will back him. If we don't, we're basically finished under the Mosh and can begin the process of forcing him out. If Benitez fails, the Mosh is in trouble. If Benitez succeeds, the Mosh will have to find the funds to keep him. If he doesn't, he's back in the deep stuff with no fig leaf of ambition to protect his modesty.
