Made a good fist of it

Up against a confident Utd side on a great unbeaten run I thought we did well last night.
Their football was tidy, and clinical. And though our performance lacked their finesse, we were in this game all the way through.

It is a credit to us that Utd had to defend with everything they had, and their goal, as clinical as it was, was against the run of play.

We built real pressure and their keeper was man of the match for me. We put immense pressure on them with so many precise corners that were causing total havoc. But no cigar.

We gave a great account of ourselves against a side high on self belief. On balance a draw would have been a fair result. But our lads can move on with increased self belief that though far from the finished article, they are on the right path and evidentially, after going toe to toe with the form side of the prem, we fans and Moysie can see improvements, and with more self belief, I for one, now more than ever, am confident we are on the right path.
This was the point at which I realised you were deeply unserious, and stopped reading.

Happened a lot at home, Bournemouth and spurs were both terrible and got all 3 points. That seems to have pushed Moyes into setting up the side like its an away fixture but with our fans that isn't going to wash and rightly so
I don't have beef with setting up like an away fixture, especially given our away record.

I am just bamboozled by the fact that we set up to soak up pressure and hit them on the break, and then play CBs and midfielders as full-backs and a midfielder on the wing. It truly looked like we bet the house on those stupid corners last night, and once we realised they weren't going in, we made a couple of token subs and hoped for the best.

I think its all about getting as narrow and compact as possible when the oppo has the ball, which is fine but in a crap league in a crap era you may also have to plan for having the ball in a home game

Looked more likely to score a try than a goal from those corners last night.

exactly this!

Did United really look rattled? I don’t think so.
You’ve got all the grappling and man handling while the ball is dead, but the moment it’s live they’ve let go of Everton players and it’s either just get the ball away or wait for a free kick to be given in their favour because someone in a blue shirt inevitably holds of for too long

I was happy with our approach to the game last night, particularly in the 2nd half, squeeze teams, force set pieces etc... The infuriating thing is not doing this against the likes of Brentford or Bournemouth.

I can live with occasionally getting done on the break if we play like that because odds are we'll win more than we'll lose.

That said, the XI Moyes picked held us back.

Hello David

I said it last night, and it paints a perfect picture. We have players that stand up and want the battle. Tarks, Garner, KDH even Armstrong show the bite and give it back to anyone.

Then you look at Gana jogging round, always laughing with the opposition no matter the score.
It's not a 6 aside game with your mates..

Thanks David, thanks for the pep talk.

If you can do us all a favour and leave, I should be most grateful.

I thought Dinosaurs went extinct with the big bang, but credit where credit is due.... youve stuck around for 10000 years.

They were garbage. We were worse.

Great thread. We should do more of these threads that are specifically focused on one match. It's a good idea for the forum. It's weird nobody thought to do it before.

Ignore all the doom mongers in here lad, post loads.
They just can’t see our progression and the efforts put in by Davey and the coaching team.
