He had Leighton Baines ahead of him. Fourth in the assists table with 9 and 2 goals to his name. In what world would Garbutt displace him considering the position we were in?
It doesn't have to be a permanent displacement Prev, just more games. For all we know Baines may have gained more assists and performed better by being refreshed.
As I see it, RM was bricking it defensively due to his own complacency and wouldn't throw anything else into the mix.

Thought we settled in defensively once Stones was properly integrated. Baines is a big part of that. He has discipline, skill and is still one of the best left backs at his league, despite being past his best. Most of all, he's LOYAL. There's no guarantee that more games would have convinced Garbutt not to be a snidey little grass.

At one point (date) does Garbutt effectively become a free agent and will no longer be affiliated with the club? Just thinking he probably will be free agent, signed with us or signed with someone new BEFORE the Euro U21's which could have potentially have been a shop window for him.

I think he shored it up by committing more to defensive duties and being less offensive...

Is Garbutt's loyalty being questioned because he re-tweeted about British youth needing more game time? Wasn't that an FA initiative or something ? Anyway, it's hard to know what's gone on behind the scenes, he may even have been promised more game time for all we know mate.

I'd try to keep him, but if the lad won't sign then the lad won't sign.

We're bigger than he is. Does anyone know how much we've offered per week for this very good but as yet unproven LB with a handful of games under his belt?
Quarter ounce of choc nibs.

Edit: That's a really small amount lol

Haven't seen him play recently for the England youth, but iirc, he was under-utilised by them too, but he should have been signed up with some reasonable game time clause if he so wished imo.

He's been the #1 left-back for England U21's since Shaw got his first injury.
Cheers! Are they giving him the ball when he's in space, or using his runs in the last third, or do the glory boyz take over and try to get their assists and goals ?

Nah from the games I've seen the team play really well together and I liked them the most when they were utilising a 4-1-2-1-2 formation. They're not a team of individuals that's for certain and Luke has played really well. I can't remember if he's the set piece taker of Will Hughes is though, been a while since I last saw them (Croatia match I think).

Not sure the amount but I did read that the club and player had agreed terms....he just hasn't signed for some reason. To go to the effort to meet the club, agree terms and not have any intention of signing would be just weird.
I think he will stay.

He's not going on a free, we will get compensation - it just a question of how much. Maybe £2-3 million? I dont know what factors determine the price. Thats unless a club agrees a fee with us before it gets that far.
