Lukaku

There's no point loaning Lukaku, we either buy him or we don't.
Didn't Martinez say something along the lines of it is better to have a truly class player for one year on loan than not have him at all?

A loan with an option to buy would suit me just fine, means we would have a specific fee agreed, and don't have to pay it for 12 months. Worked quite well for Arteta and Pienaar.

But I don't think Lukaku would want to go out on loan again, so it's probably a moot point.

Would he have that issue if he wants to come to Everton anyway? If he has a big season and the team don't, he will get a move to a CL club anyway and not be stuck in a mid range side. Sounds a good option for him no?

I can see the benefits for him as you suggest, but I'm sure I read that he said he doesn't want to go out on loan again

Could be about Release clause now. A kind of CL failure get out clause if a CL team suddenly wants him.

I think too much is made of this "Rom wants CL" stuff. Of course he wants CL football, like all players do but at 21 is it essential to him? Nah not yet!

He can play in a poorer league and get plenty of CL footy, but he won't improve as a player as much as he would in the PL at efc with no CL footy.

CL is certainly not what Rom's priority should or will be at this moment in time!

I'd be happy with another loan, in fact with an option to buy, I'd probably prefer it.

That frees up a huge chunk of cash for another quality permanent signing this summer - AND we get Lukaku. Next summer, all being well, we get him permanently.

What's not to like about that scenario?
