Lukaku

Even if he's only out for weeks, that means we're still without a fit first team striker for weeks, with an important cup game coming up and some difficult league ties.

Ridiculous.

Exactly. We have Villa (h), Spurs (a), Palace (h), Swansea (h), Chelsea (a).

Those will be the games he'll miss, and you know Kenwright will be all over the "we can beat villa, palace and swansea without a striker" statement to Martinez.

if that's the case, i hope martinez points to the sunderland home banker and the fact that there are no easy games in the premier league.

Naismith as our only fit 'striker' is a terrifying thought. He's awful.

Mirallas up top?

Must say perhaps the weeks off might benefit Lukaku. Let's be honest, he hasn't looked 100% fit for a while. Currently, despite his monster physique, I don't think he's cut out for regular 90 minute stints.

Time for Deulofeu and/or McGeady to step up now. I'd rather have those two instead of one of them and Pienaar playing.

Could be a new-look attack. Lots of pace and trickery, each of the three capable of producing something out of nothing. Just hope Osman is kept the f away from the eleven.

It doesnt really matter, hes been awful for about a month now, his 2nd touch is a throw in.

Jose got inside his head with that little arguement they had.

Probably realised he was actually helping us to mount a decent challenge in the league so decided to intervene.

Rom should've just ignored him and kept on doing his thing.

He's going to miss the Chelsea game anyway. Mirallas as a CF against Aston Villa, yes please!

I think that would be a waste of Mirallas. He has looked dynamite lately in the role of an inside forward.

We need a striker who drops into space and offers the easy outball, who can also spin off a defender and attack the six yard box when we attack in wide areas. I don't think Mirallas is that man - Lukaku looked it for a few months, but we need another guy in. Traore could very well be it, but we need a permanent guy.

He really has stepped up recently. I hope Martinez can get him, Barkley and Deulofeu playing well together at some point in the run in.
