Could we not ask Baines to cover for a couple of months...I am sure he only retired because he had Digne in front with little to no possibility of playing...if baines has kept some fitness o would seriously consider him to provide us some covers especially around Christmas.

Amazing how over rated Nkounkou is on here

Looked good against farmers from the lower league but poor against Newcastle.

Lads got big potential but he's not on the level of Digne and this is a massive blow

Let's see how he does.

It probably means us sticking with the new wing back formation, so he has some cover behind.

Let’s hope he can be back quick, would be devastating for him to miss the euros. We will struggle without him though, its not the same as some teams losing one player and swapping like for like, we’ve lost arguably one of our 4 world class players and one of the best left backs in Europe and replacing him with a kid who has played one premier league game.

This is a huge blow however we have tested (if raw) cover in Niels and if the suggested two months absence is accurate it is manageable assuming Niels himself stays knock free. This also adds extra pressure on Richarlison to (i) avoid suspensions in this period, (ii) develop an overlapping relationship with Niels, (iii) continue to provide cover to Niels behind him.

Fingers crossed it is a minor injury and the surgery goes without any issue. Best case he is fresh as a daisy end January - and he stays out of the international squads for the next cycle of Nations League ties due then.

Niels will have two relatively less challenging games to settle in but he will likely be targeted as a weakness by some of our better opponents later in December.

No one says he was at his level. His young and will get his chance now. Id rather be positive and get behind him than slate him for not being as good

We just have to hope it isn't as bad as it being reported, that he returns quickly and that Nkounkou (or whoever else Carlo plays there) can do a decent job.
