Louis Saha Stays Put

Saha injured himself against Malaga 2nd-half but played on. We can't rely on him. He misses too many games... Then he needs several games back from injury to get match fit. £8 million is a ridiculous offer for a 31-year-old who's injury prone. Everton got offers too good to refuse for McFadden + Johnson 18-12 months ago respectively. C'mon?

Everton got offered £3 million for Vaughan too from Stoke (Everton are holding out for £6 million) for a player that's started hardly any games in his career, is no longer a boy any more, has only proven himsef to be an impact player off the bench (at best, because I never see him play), and will continue to get injured because of his style of play.

Take the £11 million Moyes and get Zaki on a season loan with a view to a permanent deal. He would be the perfect lone striker, as the Yak is too lazy. (y)

Saha will be a beast this year. He needs better support from the midfield and needs another forward for link up. If we can do that he will be a crowd pleaser. 4-5-1 and he will struggle to find his best unless our midfielders are in top form.

Yeah, he needs more support than Yak does. And thats why he shouldn't be first choice.

I'd much rather get the best out of Arteta and Cahill (who work best in a five man midfield) then the best out of Saha.

Yak then Jo then Saha for me.

And sell Vaughan.

We've got a tiny squad and its tough for us to get players in. I think Moyes does ask the player if they want to leave or not...McFadden wanted to get 1st team footy, and AJ said he Moyes asked him and he said yes so he was sold.

Zaki is a tool thought. Proper massive ego on him.

I'm surprised how Zaki's been forgotten. Beginning of last season he looked world-class. Real Madrid + Man Utd were interested. I just think he's the perfect lone striker and he's available and within our budget. Moyes would make him a Gwladys Street hero I'm sure of it. Worst case scenario he excells and Everton have to sell for megabucks.

Zaki hasnt been forgotten.

In April 2009, Zaki failed to return to Wigan from one of Egypt's World Cup qualification matches, leading his club manager, Steve Bruce, to label him as the most unprofessional player he had ever worked with.[12] His late returns from international duty led to Bruce publicly branding Zaki "highly unprofessional" and fining him the maximum amount permitted,[13] which he has done on more than one occasion;[14]

“ Before this latest incident, Zaki had already been fined considerably more than the average person in Britain earns in a year and he will now face another heavy fine. ”

However, Bruce said that repeatedly fining him does not seem to alter his poor behaviour. Bruce subsequently confirmed on 17th May 2009 that the club will not be taking up the option of making his loan deal permanent.[15]

“ A letter has gone to (Amr) Zaki's club in Egypt saying we won't be taking up the option to sign him... ”

Zaki has said that Aston Villa made a £11 million bid for him in the January transfer window of 2009, which was turned down.

Oh I agree, he was [Poor language removed] hot and still is. He's just a massive tool. After his agent said all those big clubs were interested his ego went through the roof, disrespected the club, I dont think his team mates liked him, wasnt a team player (which is why his goals dried up), and generally caused unrest.

He'd love it at Citeh.

If we'd have got 8million for him...deffo would have been pleased to sell him. Could have bid a few million more for our other targets perhaps and actually got them in to improve the team more than the small weakening due to his loss.

The deal for Saha when he came from United was a little vague. We never paid anything for him, so it's likely that the bulk of anything we receive for selling on would possibly go to them. So we may as well keep him for the options he gives us.

£8m is a tough one, he's obviously injury prone but when fit is world class, plus Utd are bound to have a ridiculous sell on fee after we got him on the cheap, I'd keep him tbh.

Just read the whole article big words from Moyesy:

"We knew we were taking a gamble with Louis in terms of his injuries.

“The thing was, we knew he was a top player, although I think it is also fair to say that he wasn’t just injured physically but emotionally too because of all the problems he had.

“There are some players who can find it much harder to deal with their injuries – they worry about it more than others – and I think even Louis saw himself in that category.

“But I see a new determination in him now. I see a new Louis Saha. I think he is out to prove to many people that he is not injury-prone.

“He is showing a determination to try to shake off that tag.”
Louis Saha is one of the most talented players I’ve ever worked with or been around. Yes, we took a risk with him considering all the injuries he’s had, but he’s played almost 30 games for us.

“What impresses me now is that he’s not missed a day of pre-season, he’s not missed a session, he’s not missed a minute of anything that we’ve done.

“If I had predicted that would happen to any of my staff, some of them might have said that we would have to be more careful with him.

“But he has come through everything having, I think, realised he’s come to an age in his career when he knows he must start to do it.

“He’s got a year of his contract left here at Everton and I think sometimes when players are in that situation they are at their most dangerous because they have something to prove.”
“A fully fit Louis Saha in today’s market would be worth an awful lot of money.

“We’ve had a big offer for him this summer, which is an indication of exactly how others think of his talent – we’ve chosen to reject it.

“I won’t reveal who or where it came from, but it was an impressive offer, big money.

“Louis has nothing to prove in terms of his ability, but what he does have to prove over the next year is his fitness.

“We doubted him ourselves, but the gamble is paying off.”

F*CKING HURT THEM LOUIS.
Suprised at turning down that big offer, shows his standing in Moyes eyes. If all fit, were awash with options up front this season - the best quality we've had for a while. Gives us a potentially viable 442 option if the midfield pans out ok.

Last year of his contract as well. Its £8m for somebody who warmed the treatment room for most of last season. I dont get why anybody wouldnt sell him, dont get the love in with Saha at all.
