Maybe so, but its a lot of money for an old crock in the last year of his contract. I just hope if he does have a good season he repays our faith and doesnt do 1 on a fat contract elsewhere.

Moyes has seen something he likes, he usually gets it right so I'd be excited rather than cynical.

I would expect their offer to be heavily structured around his apperances. Maybe Moyes felt that those apperances are more valuble to our next couple of seasons than having an unpredictable revenue stream. Probably couldn't (or shouldn't) get finance for replacing him against such a deal either.

Silly not to sell him and get someone younger. Let's face the reality, 8m is almost our transfer budget for 3 season.

Everton boss David Moyes rejects £8m Louis Saha and £5m James Vaughan bids | Mail Online

Everton have turned down bids for strikers Louis Saha and James Vaughan, with manager David Moyes not keen to offload any of his squad members.
Turkish club Besiktas offered around £8million for France striker Saha, but Moyes immediately turned down the offer, according to the Daily Post.

Stoke City made the bid to sign Vaughan, offering a £2million payment rising to £5m depending on Vaughan's appearances and progress.

£13m. Oh David, theres not selling players and then theres not selling players. £13m for these boys, unreal.

We have 9 strikers within the first team squad. We only play 1 normally, that would leave us with 6 strikers and we could have picked up another youngster or some old stager. And still had £10m for other areas.

I'd have the permanent signing of Jo any day over Vaughan.

Not even much age difference between them, and Jo is by far the better player.

The optimists will say "Why can't we have both". Both aren't going to play. Vaughan is 4th possibly 5th in the pecking order of our strikers. £5million..... FFS.

It's not £13 million. It was £2m + whatever the initial payment for Saha was (probably £2-3m). I'd doubt we'd be adding more than £6m to the transfer budget to replace two players who are part of the squad.
