The silmarilion is superb. The part on beren and luthien tinuviel is story telling at its best. I'd love a film on that. I always thought the best way to do LOTR would be like a 30 part series on the BBC rather than 3films.

You have to remember The Silmarillion wasn't fully finished and a lot of the stories were padded out in the "unfinished tales".

I've never read it, might buy it on the kindle this week.

They can't make The Silmarillion into anything for another 75 years as the Tolkien Estate own the rights and they weren't too impressed with what was done with Lord Of The Rings, Jackson said they didn't like the movies one little bit.
