It was clear our entire strategy was to just hoof it up, and Liverpool have gotten wise to it, hence our issues. They are dropping 2 more back the moment they lose possession to double both Niasse and DCL and giving up the middle. They are doing that because even though there is a gaping hole in the middle of the field, they know we arent even looking there.
If we want to break it, we simply need to mix up hoofing the ball up field with some quick passes to a player breaking midway in the middle of the park. Otherwise it will be more of the same.
I dont completely disagree with finally having a counter-attack strategy where we actually try and put 2 relatively quick players up top, even if we know we are going to be dominated in posession. But both Niasse and DCL have been manhandled and havent done anything so far. If we get to the 65th minute mark still 1-0, we might need to replace Niasse with Lookman, and then replace Davies with Vlasic.
