Sit back, no space in behind, hit them on the counter
Exactly. We aren't going to suddenly high press these guys. Keane is pretty fast - not quick - for a big guy, but we haven't pressed high most of the year, we aren't going to start now.
We'll set up with our typical mid press, probably have Richy and Siggy slide over to take a bit of VVDs longer passes away. We WANT them to play through midfield, not by pass it and get it directly to the forwards 1 v. 1 against our back line. We SHOULD concede possession at times - Klopp doesn't want to hang on to the ball, they don't look dangerous except on the counter press - and keep our back line at about the 30, condense the defensive zone and strike back on the counter. Gana steal, quick outlet to Siggy, or Gomes running with it, looking ahead for Walcott or Bernard sneaking behind the back line when the fullback head upwards. Also think Keane and Mina are both decent with the ball at their feet and might be able to feed it through some players at times and spring the counter.
It will be very interesting to see how aggressive we get with pushing Digne and Coleman up the pitch. We are still giving it away more frequently or easily than we should be, which isn't good.
We have got to cut out the fouls, though. LFC is dangerous on set pieces and even throws. Maintain our composure a bit when they counter press and we'll be fine. Gotta take our chances, of course.
Hopefully they'll get banged up midweek.
