I'm trying to track down the address of a family who lived in Allerton in the 1950's and I think the
local council might be the best place to start. So, which council covers that area?

My brother-in-law's father migrated to Australia from Liverpool in about 1950 and we'll be in Liverpool next month and he'd like to walk up the street where he lived and doesn't know the address.

I'd be grateful for any information, or even better ways of doing the search, if any. Web sites, for instance.

Thanks Eggs, I went there and gave as much info as it asked for that I had, but it came up no result.

Surprising, really, because I had the names of the occupants and the district they lived in at the time of the 1951 census.

I've found the address of MoutsGoats suggestion, Central Library, but I can't contact them today - on holiday.

..the Central Library is excellent for reference information. It’s also worth a look around if you live local because the building itself is stunning.

Thanks to those who offered me advice and just to let you know, I emailed the question to Central Library and
they came back to me with what is probably the answer.

They say that a couple of the names I sent lived in Conleach Rd in Speke in 1951 and 1955. Not Allerton, apparently,
which is surprising given that their son said that's where they lived. Their names were Ernest and Florence Wright and
what are the odds that a couple with the same names lived so close.

The thing that bothers me a bit is that I looked it up on Google maps and the houses don't look that old. The bricks
look too clean. Maybe they were all demolished and rebuilt.

Anyway, thanks again.

Had a quick look and the whole area looks like new build housing, I suspect as you say the while area was rebuilt.
