The Equaliser

Player Valuation: £50m
If ever a player deserved a thread of his own it's this man.

He's back to his imperious best recently after his injury problems earlier this season, and is breaking record all over the show. 2 sublime finishes tonight is testament to that.

He's an absolute joy to watch when he gets the ball, and anyone who loves the game itself surely must agree with that. We are privileged to be watching a genius at work in this day and age, and at 26 years of age there is plenty more to come from him.

Will look back at his accomplishments in 30+ years and he'll be mentioned in the same name as Pele, Maradona, Best, Cryuff, etc.... Could end up being the best of them all.

(EDIT: I just hope I'm around in 30 years to mention his name.)

very possible.

as well as ronaldo imo.

Probably is the best, but he is properly boringly brilliant. Better players to watch than him, even if he does become statistically the greatest player of all time.

No offence, but thats the sort of thinking that caused people to lose interest in live coverage of the moon landings. Messi is probably the standout player of the past forty years, and has - as Sid Lowe pointed out almost four years ago now - succeeded in making the ludicrously good seem merely routine.
