I believe a big part of why we are where we are is that so many of of players are lightweight, no passion, no drive, no will to put it all all on the line
there are probably others but:

Richarlison - Lightweight - spends more times on the floor than on his feet trying to do something creative
Gomes - Lightweight - flatters to deceive
Walcott - Lightweight - enough said
Sigurdsson - Lightweight - unless the ball is presented on a plate, not interested
Davies - Lightweight bar one run against Man City
Calvert-Lewin - King of the lightweights you are a centre forward ffs

Is the term lightweight or in too many cases spineless. I struggle to see a leader in the team or even wider squad. The manager does not even know who his captain is, its like a lucky dip each week. I see a bunch of show ponies lumped together with no understanding of a collective. The coaching staff are also complicit in this situation its like a broken marriage that is papering over the cracks.
