"And the man who signed a new contract yesterday celebrates with a magnificent free kick in front of the Kop to give Everton the 3 points..." *drifts off into a beautiful dream

Thought he looked very good yesterday. More like his performances in previous years.

It'd be a huge boost for us if he could get into form for this last third of the season.

And the Baines/Pienaar axis showed signs of it's old self. There is no stopping them when they are on song together.

It's just about getting them both fit for a prolonged period of time. Seems one has been injured for a large chunk of the season so far

Good to say he's still the coolest looking in the league with any length hair

More than a coincidence that now contract is done and dusted he gives his best performance in months against villa. Piennar and baines' understanding is almost telepathic, great to see them reunited and back playing well.

Everton now a team of thinkers thanks to Martinez influence, says Baines

Left-back credits Martinez with playing major part in his decision to commit to Blues

Leighton Baines believes Roberto Martinez has turned Everton FC into a team of thinkers, who are excited about developing their tactical knowledge as they progress.

The England left-back credits Martinez with playing a major part in his decision to commit his future to the club recently by signing a new contract.

And Baines, 29, claims the change in methods under the Catalan has rejuvenated the Goodison dressing room, and convinced them they would be well suited to European football again if they can achieve their aim of a return to the continent next term.

There was also the fact that with Coleman out we reverted to using the left side a lot more. When Coleman plays we tend to use the right just as much so Baines gets less opportunity to shine but that's not his fault and it's better for the team that we can use both sides

Great words from Bainsy and it also shows what respect the players have for RMs methods and management. Sounds like they are in awe of his methods and know that they will and can improve under RMs tutelage. Basically its another kick in the bollox for Moyes really.

might be a controversial opinion but wouldn't mind selling him in the summer if we can get 15m+. he's 29, on high wages, more suited to a direct style and is not even our best left back. If we can get Oviedo back fit and find a cheap back up then we could improve the other areas of the squad with the money and would be much better off.
