Leighton Baines

Moyes does not need to sign another Everton player, and if he has any sense of self preservation, he won't. He needs to sign a marquee name to prove he can attract players from the world market. That's what he will do. The fella will guard his arse big time.

Also, Evra has been one of their most consistent players so far this season, playing as captain as well most of the time.

LB isn't their priority, surely.

I just hope that we hear some good news regarding Baines's contract in the near future, losing him in January would be a real downer but I've got confidence that we'll keep hold of him.

Moyes is a sh*tbag, Manchester United can attract big name players but he cant.

That aside United are a rival for us this season in the league, one of the teams will be competing against for spots 4 to 6, last thing we want to do is strengthen them and weaken ourselves. Selling Fellini made no real difference, Bill did well on that one, selling Baines to United would be a disaster, if anything id rather Arsenal or Chelsea came in for him.

It's a tricky one the whole baine's situation. A new contract not being sorted since the window closed speaks volumes about where Leighton stands on this whole thing. Can we afford to lose a potential 10M by holding on to him for a few extra months? I don't think so tbh.

It's very unlikely we will be serious contenders for top 4 come the latter stages of the season, there's just too much compitition up there. Come summer were gonna need 3 quality expensive signings ourselves CB CM and CF... Losing a player worth top dolla (however gutting to lose) may be the only real way to push on again.

Ideally if he wants out he goes in the summer, if the difference is around 10M of cash to help push us on the following season, he will probs have to be let go in january.

Or you just spend money like the giants of football Norwich and Swansea have done since the new TV deal was agreed.

If he was staying then he'd have signed a contract by now.

Sad that he may be wanting a move to United with how things are but he's been boss for Everton so as long as we get an overinflated price then it could be worse.

Would rather he stayed like.

People said exactly the same thing about Fellaini, who then signed a five year contract.

Fellaini did sign a new contract and put a clause in it. Where Baines is now in the last two years and Martinez said no talks are taking place. I'm not naive as you can see where this is heading

Hold on, haven't we - along with all other PL clubs - got that extra tv revenue in the bank to draw on/borrow against until the summer....the extra 30M per season?

How soon many forget...which is exactly what these gangsters in control of the club (who'll end up plundering Everton for a huge sell on price) bank on.

We have a surplus from last summer alone in player sales, never mind the huge extra tv cash coming in, so we dont need to sell Baines to 'push on' in the transfer market.

The idea we would sell our best player to that moron when were both going for fourth (in their dreams) is absurd, Leighton will have to pinch his nose for three months, big deal

How do you know its Baines who does not want to discuss a new contract.

Well it wont be the club will it, we are losing money by letting his contract running down, and putting Baines and his agent in control. Martinez already said months ago he wants to offer him a contract now he says there no rush.
