He will go imo the fact we have put a price tag on him speaks volumes if we really wanted to keep him it would be not for sale for any price and sit down with baines to sign a new deal.

Either that or baines wouldn't mind leaving so we give utd a chance to meet the valuation and if they dont we can say to baines alteast we made it possible and we talk about a new contract

I thought we had said he's not for sale? Has the club actually said £18mil will do it or is that press speculation or off the record briefing?

Complety objectively he is 28 and probably at the peak of his career. Would it be astute to cash in on him now? We don't have many other 20m + players and we could sign a couple more players in his place and appease the banks somewhat.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the lad, tremendous attitude and the free kick against Newcastle was one of the best I've ever seen but now might be the time.

I think the question is will Bainsey get us into Europe or will a 15/20 goal a season striker.

Deluded fools all of them.

Probably just the price an the fact he's not that much younger than Evra, and whilst I think is the better player he probably isn't enough of an improvement to justify the £££ it would cost to get him.

They need to sort the midfield out.

Or will a 15/20 goal a season striker join us if we get shut of our best players

Win win situation for us, either we keep our best player or get a fee we would never ever get for him again that Bob Martin can reinvest. Prefer to keep him personally but if he goes he goes and we move on as we did when Dunc, Rooney and Lescott left.

I hate to upset all you defenders out there but defenders are easier to replace.

Baines real worth is his attacking prowess, hopefully with Roberto snaffling Barca kids, Kone and maybe developing the likes of Barkley the peculiarity of having a full back as our most potent attacking weapon will be resolved.

No-one wants him to go but we have a forward thinking manager to address the real void - it's not the disaster it could have been if soft ollies was in charge.
