With him prooving himself in the spotlight for the last two seasons, and with the lack of quality english left backs, Leighton Baines in my opinion has the credentials to ensure his place in Fabs's World Cup Squad, and who knows, bring a part of the World Cup back to Goodison, what do you think?

Needs to prove he's worth a place in the Everton team at the moment, never mind England. Started poorly this season by the standards he's set himself

Baines and Yobo need time to adjust to having Distin instead of Lescott alongside them, im sure it will work out in the end. If Baines can get the form from last season back, he must be a shoe in to be on that plane, the only problem will be Bridge and Cole at higher profile Clubs and surely Lescott would seem a better option due to his dual roles.

Its gonna be tough for him I feel.

I dont think he'll go. Bridge will go on the back of he's an experienced bench warmer playing for a MASSIVE club now, that will probably do fairly well this season. Baines is only 23 I think so he's got time, Bridge is 29 so he wont be going to the next one.

Am I the only one who thinks Baines is our best performer so far in a shockingly bad opening to a season? Just me.

The way people are going on you'd actually think he has had an awful full season, how many games in are we?

He's had three or four dodgy games in a team lacking confidence aswell as balance. He's got a chance because he's a quality player with a long season ahead of him.

I'm almost certain that he'll get called up for the next matches since qualification's been secured.

Probably give him and Bridge a match each and let Ashley have a break.

It's all down to how we perform defensively once Jagielka's back in there as well - they both want to go to South Africa and are both right on the cusp of breaking into the squad permanently... If he racks up more goals & assists to go along with a lot of clean-sheets, there's no reason Capello would take the solid but unspectacular Bridge.

He needs to pick up his defensive play if he wants to have a shot. So far this season he's been beaten far to many times.
