Maybe a vote of confidence from Moyes will be the kick up the ass he supposedly will benefit from.

He isn't out of form, he is making mistakes due to lack of concentration. There is a difference.

Problem is it is costing us so how long do you put up with it?

I think he should play at Hull but Baines should play against Blackburn. That was Lescott gets a rest and Baines gets a chance, see how both players react.

Its a tricky one but Moyes knows Lescott better than any of us so i hope he makes the right decision.

no way should baines play instead of lescott. i'm sure moyes will be doing extra work on the ball dropping over his shoulder from a diaganol.

look how quick we are to jump on last year's player of the year!

So because he was the player of the year last season, mean's he's exempt from criticism?

Lescott need's to be dropped, if anything to make a point to him.

...As well as to the rest of the squad. Poor form will get you a bit of a rest.

As someone mentioned before, this is a no-brainer where Lescott is concerned.

What point?

"Sorry Jolean, i know you're going through a poor patch at the moment and i have no faith in you to improve so i'm going to play our 3rd choice lb or a guy who has been pretty pants this year as well. You can rot on the bench for a bit, that outta sort you out."

I just dont get how dropping him is gonna somehow make him play better. If he is being lazy and uninterested or big headed then yeah it should do but the problems seem to be in his head so dropping him is very very risky if you ask me.

Lets not forget he did make concentration errors last year as well.

Spot on

keep him in the team and watch him improve. He's one of our best players, he gives his all and continually changing the back line will not help us get any consistency at the back.

the point that: "your performances arent good enough at the moment, and you will play again once you have proved you are better than Baines or Valente." Bad performances = No games.

Baines or Valente, both up for teh job. Id say Baines, simply because he is younger.

Valente doesn't offer as much as both going forward and Baines was pretty pants really when he did play.

I'd say neither truly "deserves" the spot but one of them has to be first choice and Moyes seems to think its Lescott.

Very tricky decision whatever he decides.

If i were Moyes i'd talk to Lescott, i'm sure he is well aware of his failings this season, explain that he is costing us goals with his lapses but you are giving him 100% backing for the Hull game so go out and prove yourself to be the awesome player you were last year.

If he [Poor language removed] up again fine, enough is enough but the confidence boost and long awaited good performance might be the so called kick up the ass he needs.

He seems to have lost some of his pace as well as his confidence. I don't know whether chopping and changing the back four too much will help, we need one game where we don't concede a goal, though at the moment that seems like a forlorn hope!
I think we have to assume, or at least hope, that DM is playing his BEST defence and not keeping JL in the team because he's scared to drop him. That doesn't say much for Baines or Nuno's form though!
