Leighton Baines - Boyhood Red?

Can't post the link but in a FourFourTwo article he says he was a Liverpool fan.

As a boy I supported...
Liverpool. As a local lad I used to watch from the Kop when Robbie Fowler was making his name. I started out at Liverpool's Centre of Excellence and although it was disappointing when nothing came of it, I was lucky that both Wigan and Wolves wanted to sign me.

Not really arsed either way, but if he is in fact a blue, that article is surprising and it's a bit annoying that SKY keep bringing it up about him being a red. It's funny how they never consider Gerrard to be a Blue, even though he has a picture with our trophies in an Everton kit and said he used to go to both grounds as a kid. That must make him a massive red though.

As a young, young lad he was a red due to his family. He was a Blue in high school.

This again, really ?!??!?

Baines, brought up in Kirkby but rejected as a youngster by Everton and Liverpool, had been made aware of interest from David Moyes and the lure of playing at Goodison was too strong, even if Everton were not always his favourite club. "I actually started as a Liverpool supporter because my dad supported them and I hero-worshipped Robbie Fowler. He was another left-footer and I loved him. I'd go back to school and every time we played I'd pretend I was Fowler.

"I was only young, though, and I didn't like the hustle and bustle of the stands. I lost interest in Liverpool, but I still loved watching football. I was at the 1995 FA Cup final [when Everton beat Manchester United 1-0]. I went through a spell of liking Blackburn Rovers because they had Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton in attack. And then I started watching Everton properly when I was about 14. My mum wouldn't let me go on my own but my cousin was three years older than me so we'd get the bus, 50p from Kirkby, and then hang around outside until we could sneak in.

Drop it ffs

there was a kid back in primary school who owned both a liverpool and everton kit, and would alternate between the two for footy training each week. He ended up being a Newcastle fan, true story.

Thats like not knowing if you are straight or gay and deciding on beastiality!

Slightly off topic. I remember a while back seeing a picture of Osman in a RS top, looked like he was in a pub or something. Anyone got it?

Not this again.

He wasn't. I went to school with him, he was an Evertonian.

Case closed.

This. I know the manager from Knowsley boys, he was telling me all about Baines and how he used to go to training with his Everton kit on and his dad didn't care who he supported he just wanted best for his lad. Vaguely remember getting told about his dad had kick off with the school at some point over Baines and football, not sure what it was like I've got a memory like a gold fish

Not really arsed who he supported, it who he supported now, if he was a rs at a boy and now a blue, the rs must be fuming that they have missed out on him.
