Twitter seems to have spawned a requirement for extroverted public shows of grief. He was remembered by each of his clubs at the time, there's no need to bring it up again every time two of them play.

Spot on. It's often crass and over the top plastic grief. Evertonians know how to honour our dead like, as we done with Gary when it was apt and the right opportunity.

Dont want to sound harsh, and I was sad about him passing away, But he **** on Everton Fc. It wasnt that he left, if a player doesnt want to be at our club get rid. We only want playersthat are committed to the cause, it was the manner in which left. My mate worked for Everton at the time Speed left Everton, and their was word of him already buying a house in the northeast before he signed for Newcastle, even though Everton wanted to keep him As I say I dont want to sound harsh, but also dont want to be a hypocryte as everytime he played against us home or away I would boo him and give him down the banks all game till I lost my voice, as did all the fans around me.

Incidentally he left for a good reason and I know that because I have family who worked for the club at the time. It wasn't his fault and the only reason he didn't come out and tell everyone what happened is because he had too much loyalty and respect to people who didn't show him it back.

Listen Mate you have your opinion and Ill have mine. As I said in my post I had a friend that worked forthe club myself. Im not being disrespectful its my opinion, isnt it what these forums are about? As I said in my previous post I was sad at his passing, but I not going to be like a lot of our fans that gave Speed loads of ****e and just because he died change my opinion and be a hypocryte.
