Honestly Forrest Gump...thats the only thing ive seen him in where hes taken on a different role.

Havent seen philadelphia, castaway he played his usual "average guy with a problem to overcome"...Wilson was phenomenal mind you.

Look at Hardy and Bale, every part is different and they bring different characters to life.

As does De Niro but, his expressions and voices are the same.
I'm not saying Hanks is the best actor ever, just that he gets put down too much.
Granted it is all a bit luvvy darling at awards and such but, he's a decent actor, especially in 'The Burbs' haha.

Right, can't you just say you don't like him? And that despite you not liking him he may still be a good actor.

Lordy, I think he is great, but not infallible. He has been in some tosh (Cloud Atlas anyone??). But Bale and Hardy have both been in stuff I didn't enjoy (Reign of Fire, Sucker Punch) as well.

Hanks is obviously good at his job, otherwise he wouldn't keep getting work, as his movies make money from people watching them.

Love the boy Hardy, hes without doubt my current favourite actor, but The Hanks has made some of the best films ever, its not even close.

In all seriousness, probably Michael Shannon for me right now. He is consistently excellent, (well, maybe not Man of Steel, but he was the best thing about that).

I wouldn't say Hardy has got that much range, Zat. He plays a big hard knock in almost every film. A fine actor of course, but you can't use a lack of range as a stick to beat Hanks with then cite Hardy as a far superior actor.

Been flying a lot lately so watched:

New Star Wars. Not a massive Star Wars fan, but decent. 6/10.

Race. Film about Jesse Owens, nothing special but thoroughly enjoyable. 7/10.

Deadpool. Not really a story, but I found it very funny. The Hugh Jackman thing at the end had me creased. 8.5/10.

X-Men Apocalypse. I enjoyed First Class and parts of DOFP were great, but I thought this was just a bit tosh. 4.5/10.
