Holy Motors

Yep, still in my top 5.
Not a big horror fan but the missus loves them, a few of her faves I do like - 30 Days of Night, Event Horizon, The Orphanage, Triangle, The Mist, Ring (japanese one, swerve the remake), Let The Right One In, Rec.Best Horror film People ??
Anything new out that's good? Always watch one Halloween night.. Not Just like but make a big thing of it that night as its the only night the wife will watch one...
Watched Babadook lst year.. what a load of [Poor language removed]! Tried to hard in my opinion..
REC 1 & 2 (best zombie films...watch in original Spanish with subs...avoid parts 3 & 4)
Dog Soldiers (favourite comedy-horror this)

Let The Right One In
Original film is pretty good too.Seen the first one, was pretty decent. Not really a big horror fan tho tbh...
Babadook was quite clever but nothing amazing, similar concept to Hitchcock's The Birds. 6/10 worth a watch in my book.
My personal favourites:
Paranormal Activity series (part 4 is the only dud...the rest are great, 1st one is scariest film ever)
REC 1 & 2 (best zombie films...watch in original Spanish with subs...avoid parts 3 & 4)
Interview with the Vampire (one of the very best book-to-film adaptations, makes you thirsty for blood)
Bram Stoker's Dracula (also great adaptation, makes you thirsty for Winona Ryder)
others which were really good:
Dog Soldiers (favourite comedy-horror this)
Open Water (utterly terrifying...not supernatural, tho')
Altered States (mix of sci-fi & horror...not scary but still powerful)
The Shining (slightly overrated, not scary...but still an engaging watch)
Rosemary's Baby (you feel so utterly helpless for the woman...horrific)
Blair Witch Project (finally saw this for the first time recently...a classic)
As Above, So Below (set in those underground Parisian catacombs...very atmospheric)
Saw the theatrical version of this. Was really good, but I'm not sure if it's on anymoreOriginal film is pretty good too.
Poltergeist is a very good also.
never heard of that, coolio...sounds similar to Enter the Void (which i've got but not watched yet).
out of interest what's your top 5?
Soz, didn't realise you meant one at the flicks, I'd go for Crimson Peak. Not keen on the remake of Let The Right One In, not a bad film but a bit pointless and not as creepy as the Swedish one.Saw the theatrical version of this. Was really good, but I'm not sure if it's on anymoreOriginal film is pretty good too.
It's not really that much like it tbh, apart from neon lights. It is pretty much just an ode to film making, there is a loose story about a guy who goes around playing different acting parts, but without camera's. Loads of film references etc. Have you seen any of Carax's films?
In no order, and off the top of my head.
Holy Motors
Mullholland Dr
Pierrot le Fou
There Will Be Blood
Paris, Texas
Although I feel Days of Heaven or Badlands should be in there, too.
5. The Decent.Best Horror film People ??

haven't even heard of Carax before...i'll give Holy Motors a whirl.
There Will Be Blood is amazing! A rare 10/10 perfect film. I was already into Arvo Pärt so hearing Fratres was quite beautiful.
Mulholland Drive just confused me at first watch over a decade ago...got it on dvd recently so a rewatch is on the cards.
Haven't heard of your other two...checked them out now...i like Dean Stockwell so that's another one on the watchlist. Badlands was alright, but shallow and disjointed in my book...haven't seen any Malick apart from that but got Tree of Life so that's coming soon.
Interesting list, tho'...i've also got 7 standouts: 2001, Oldboy, Apocalypse Now, Excalibur, There Will Be Blood, 1984, Pink Floyd The Wall.
watched Fight Club last night for only the 2nd time, first time were abt 15 year ago when it first came out.
Still a very strong 9/10! Whereas The Game lost a bit of power on second viewing Fight Club seems to gain. Very clever and still relevant. Beautifully played by all the cast. The flashy bits of direction sometimes remind of Danny Boyle but it's not offputting. My better half wasn't as impressed, she fell asleep shortly after the big reveal...maybe it's more of a man's film.
Speaking of films that appeal to a certain gender, we went through Almodóvar's Volver the other night...to me it was just a bunch of women hiding stuff from each other and bitching about bad men, but her indoors liked it much better...so i guess that's one to watch with your lady when it's her turn to choose.
