Last Film You Watched

I keep reading about how good the movie is, which is interesting b/c I hated the book, at least compared to The Martian. Maybe hate isn't the right word, but underwhelmed.

I was going to swerve it, but I think after everything I've been reading it's a must see
I went to watch it knowing absolutely nothing. Didn’t even know it was based on a book and I don’t even remember seeing a trailer for it and if i had then the trailer was clearly forgettable. In fact I was worried I might even be bored by it because I’m not a huge sci fi fan and I saw it had a runtime of almost 3 hours. It was just a random punt film to go watch late on a Saturday night.

I get that it’s a silly film and some people won’t like it for that reason but for me the story and the way it was encapsulated is what cinema is all about.

I know it’s extremely early given that the Oscars finished literally a few days ago but Gosling for best actor and best film at next year’s Oscars wouldn’t shock me

film4 tonight 9pm. Know nothing about it, or the recent Oscar winner. Always liked Walters, (she was super nice to some bereaved family a few years back and that spoke volumes for character) so if there are a few laughs in it, lets see.

Sorry, I'm probably confusing myself. But how is Forrest Gump related to Speilberg? I know he is close with Zemekis, but I thought he had no involvement with the production?
It'll be the 'Industrial light and magic' connection. A lot of Zemeckis' films have been cutting edge technologically via this production company, IL&M is Lucasfilm owned. And Lucas and Spielberg are buddies from before star wars.

Was really looking forward to watching " no other choice" playing on mubi. Messed around sorting the free trial etc got all comfy and excited. Only had spanish subs.

Didn't annoy. Was quite sad. Review tomorrow. Seems she can sing. Has a great agent.
It didn't do a great deal (although walked me into a couple of blind alleys), it reminded me of 'Billy Elliot', not just 'cos of Walters, but because a talent needed coaxing to believe in itself, 'Cathy come home', because of the lost children element, and 'Crazy heart', because of the flawed character and boozing. (and The dude played and sang his own songs). Good vehicle for her, 7 Nashville nights out of 10.
