Last Film You Watched

People forget that when Clerks came out, it was an absolute game changer. The dialogue was incredible. And on zero budget - Kevin Smith had to film where he worked IIRC
He also worked on a budget of $15,000. He sold his whole comic book collection to fund it! 😂

Nightmare Alley - Film4 last night.

Despite the stellar cast and being directed by Guillermo del Torro, it didn’t do it for me.

It was like a film in three parts :

First part excellent.
Middle part flat and uninteresting.
Final part picked up, but not enough to rescue the film.

They could’ve easily cut thirty mins off the running time and it’d have made no difference.

Beautiful sets and cinematography though.
I put this film on the other day, forgetting that I had already seen it. It’s easily forgettable. 🤷

Watched The Gorge during the week.
Thought it was decent enough, not going to win any Oscar’s like but entertaining still.
Plenty of action and held my attention.
Also gave it a watch, and I agree with this assessment.

If Oscar winning performances are your thing, this just got released this week:

It should make a full sweep of the academy awards this year! 😜

The Popeye copyright expired, so now the character has entered the public domain.
But so did "Steamboat Willie", and therefore Mickey Mouse is also in the public domain. Can't wait to see who has the guts to make a no-budget Mickey Mouse horror flick next! 😂😂😂

There's loads of them , Winnie the pooh, tigger, snow white I think, everyone of them as bad as the last
Lol... That makes sense.

Done on a shoestring budget, and time is a factor, because they have to release them before the character's copyright gets renewed!
Although, I don't know what international copyright law says? After 100 years, I think it stays in the public domain forever?
Which means we haven't seen the last of these god awful abominations!

Just dropped on Netflix - Breaking.

Based on the true story of a disaffected ex US Marine, who takes two bank employees hostage and threatens to blow up the bank, to highlight his treatment by the Veterans Association.

John Boyega puts a real shift in, with Michael K Williams in support ( his last film ? )

It’s not a film I’d have gone to see on the cinema, but still a decent enough film.

It was a very good film...
I felt the lead actor's pain and frustration, as in life hands you such a raw deal, that you have to literally threaten to blow-up a bank.
Not even to get ahead, just to break-even. 🤦‍♂️

Very strange film, the lead character is quite a poor actor, the film is classed as a horror, but comes across as a psychological movie about finding ones identity, feels and looks like an 80s presentation, you will either love it or hate it and feels like one of those that will be a cult classic in a few yearsView attachment 296342

Watched it last night and really enjoyed it.

Reminds me very much of stuff I’d go and see at the 051 when I was a youngster.

Thought the visuals were excellent too.

It’s the type of role a young Denzil Washington would’ve got all those years ago.
Definitely...

He played a similar role in this film:
