I preferred this to Parasite, not that they're in competition either each other, just they're both recent highly-regarded and excellent Korean movies. Hard to fault this film as you say but the ending of Parasite reminded me of Python's 'Salad Days' sketch (and I struggled to get that out of my head while watching it), so The Handmaiden takes it.

Yeah, i probably prefer this too. I thought Parasite was great for the unexpected, but this is more my type of film.

I definitely prefer the more non-violent of Korean cinema - film such as Burning, Mother etc.

Hopefully some Tv shows come out more in this vein, i've not been fussed at all with the more hyper-reality violent style that seem to be more popular.

'The Ring' (2002) Having watched the original I'm waiting for the smug wooden 8 year old to get cleavered all over the show. Finally some entertainment hopefully. The rest of it is worse than rubbish. Shambles!
