To all those raving about the new mission impossible...
It was all very obvious, wasnt it?
Look it s good action film, but that's exactly what I thought. 'Oh no the Plutonium has been stolen and we only have this rag-tag bunch of excommunicated agents to get it back and stop the world from being blown up!' Mission Impossible 4 is the best of the series hands down.
Just watched Justice League, I actually really liked it, the DC stuff is clearly different from Marvel, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing. Wonder Woman was a stand out performer for me I’m looking forward to her stand alone sequel.
The thing i find crazy is I looked up to see when the Justice League sequel was and apparently because it only made $658m at the box office, off a budget of $300m, they are not too sure if there will be a sequel, there is one pencilled in, but it will depend how the stand alone Aquaman and Wonder Woman perform. I thought $358m profit was fairly decent?!
Usually a film needs to make 2 or 3 times it's budget to turn a profit. Justice League was reported to have to make $600m US to break even. All the marketing and advertising, creating (digital nowadays) prints for the cinemas and cinema profit double your budget. With this kind of tent pole film, you'd be expecting $1bn at the box office - minimum. Comparatively Avengers 3 so far has made $2bn - a return of at least 10 times its budget. Marvel have had 6 films cross the $1bn mark and have made over $17bn from the box office alone. If Justice League was in the MCU it would sit around 13th / 14th on their box office list between Winter Soldier and Dr Strange.
For this kind of material, it's an epic fail and the Studio will have fired a lot of people over it, and changed all their plans overnight. Shazam and Aquaman will have to make a shed load of money to get them to even consider doing a part 2.
