Transfer Rumour Lamine Kone

You know I said exactly the same earlier.

I like the lad and think he's got all the attributes, just don't know if he's Koeman's 'type' of defender - even though like you I'm basing that off nothing at all haha

I'm trying my best to understand how someone can make an assumption about a player not being the managers 'type', based on nothing at all, very strange

Hi chaps. SUnderland fan. Kone from our perspective.
Seems Kone' agent McKay has done a lot of pot stirring over the past few days. Word is Kone wants to stay and Mckay wants to line his own pockets. I would say Kone is on something around £20-£25k per week having signed from Lorient six months ago WHere he was on less than £10k. Fair enough, low for premier league standards but the lad has played 15 (yes 15) premier league games. His offer is going to be £70k. As Moyes stated we have more pressing things going on at the moment than giving someone who is under contract for a further 4 years a new contract (wether offered or not) he's been told it's happening. MAybe things have gone too far and he does leave. £18m in the context of what we have seen so far looks good value for the buying side. He's a good player (15 games worth) A bit 50/50 over we want him to stay or get rid as his attitude is (like most players) money, money, money.

Well in mate, good fans you Sunderland lads, many thanks

Nice one mate.

BTW for what its worth, most of Evertonians dont think to highly of Moyes these days but I think for Sunderland he will be perfect, just like he was when he replaced Walter Smith for us. Great at buying cheap players and making a side hard to beat...etc Be very suprised if you even look like going down this season under him. ;)

Bit early to tell. Majority happy we have got him. SAm and the FA left us in the crap so he's had little time to get things moving. Hopefully he can get us up to the lofty heights of 15 this season..ha.

He wont take you down. Nailed on. Give him a bit of time, trust him in the market, but expect a rather, er, pragmatic, approach to the game.

Which without wanting to sound patronising, is just what you need after the nonsense you have had to endure the last few years.

Agreed, Moyes will do a cracking job up there, Sunderland it could be said are in the same state we were when he took over us, a club that gets good numbers through the doors and has been flirting with relegation for a few years.

Its likely he will be backed far more than he was here as well.

Presumably Kone 'wrote' his statement after being told that Sunderland will offer him a new deal, so nothing has changed really. Moyes seemed mighty peed off with him today, not sure he'll tolerate someone messing him about like that.
Think it will be done soon. Hope we've done our homework on him though - as good as he looked for Sunderland, that is a short number of games to judge.

based on the fact his maximum ever wage is 20k and he's 27, wouldn't seem he is all about money, money, money. It's mainly due to the agents these days sadly.

He might drive you mad at times, when he dampens expectation or plays safety first football, but he is a honest, passionate and driven manager and I'm sure you'll soon be feeling damn glad he is yours.

Suppose that's based on the fact he's done nothing in football. It's probably his one and only big contact and fair enough he wants as much as possible. (Even if he has to wait for 3 weeks)
