I think Lampard will be given 2 seasons at least.
The fans will give him that period of time no problem.
Chelsea for years have been hoovering up young players from all over Europe and loaning them out.
They have won countless youth cups.
Roman seems to have tightened the purse strings as well.
The fact they are not fighting the 2 window ban leads me to believe there is a shift in focus and policy at board level.
They may be prepared to finally develop their own young players and integrate them into the first team squad.
We complained about the size of our squad but 41 players out on loan plus maybe 30 at chelsea is a lot of players and a lot of wages.
Lampard is seen as someone who will develop young players and save Chelsea on expensive transfer fees.
A chelsea squad made up of thee best of their youth and the best of the senior players will still be good enough for top 4 if managed correctly.
Weather Lampard is the man for that remains to be seen
He will have the backing of Roman, the senior players and the young players plus the fans.
As to Zouma I think its down to him weather he signs or not.
If he wants regular game time to get into the French squad and he likes it here he will push for a move.
I don't think Lampard can or will guarantee him game time.
As Gomes said today once the season was over he told his agent "I want to stay at Everton"
,Zouma may have done the same

If Chelsea are smart they will have this planned out. It's my understanding it;s 3 window they are banned from so no signing for the next two summers? Either way they needed a coach who would not be demanding lots of players in to make his system work. They'd also need one who the fans would give time too and one who could work with younger players. Lampard fills that void.

As a club they have been moving in the direction of trying to emulate Tottenham/Liverpool increasingly. They have a seriously talented under 25 squad. The final piece of the jigsaw is giving a manager time to build a squad with those players. I can't guarantee they will do it with Lampard, but they'd be wise to give him time. In fairness to Abramovic, while he gives nobody time he will say he gives them all enormous backing, so expects them to deliver, the same won;t be able to be said for Lampard.

If this is the context they are going for, it's hard to say where Zouma, aged 24 (nearly 25) really fits, given he has flopped for Chelsea and been loaned out for the last 2 seasons. It's irrelevant how well he did for Everton under a different system, it hasn't worked for Chelsea. He's not really their future. If they can get 30+ million for him it's a huge incentive to sell.

Much of Zouma's performance was also his partnership with Keane. Take that away and he is quite an ordinary defender.

Long and short of it, much like Gomes I expect Zouma to come. The issue was always going to be whether we wanted to commit to a big fee to get him. To me he has justified that.

There was some chat on here yesterday about if you’d rather Zouma or Ake.

What do you people reckon given the choice?

I have never seen the intrigue with Ake. Always felt he was too small to play that role. Sometimes you watch players for other teams and are impressed with them. I really like Brooks from Bournemouth, and the two lads up top are impressive. However can never get the hype with Ake.
