I agree with you on some points Ghost. I actually think that its Moyes not signing his contract thats creating a bit of instability and it can affect the side and is.

However, Ghost, I dont think we have
A. We have not replaced squad players
B. We have not improved the squad

We have replaced Johnson with Saha, definitely a better player and I think he will prove to us his worth when he gets a few starts. Carsley was replaced with Fellaini/Castillo. There hasnt been drastic improvement in terms of new players, but Fellaini/Castillo in good time will prove to be players with more needed ability to add to the side and Saha could prove much better than Johnson.

The defense needs shaping up. Jagielka seems to be the only defender stepping up to the plate at the moment.

Thats because hes great :)

So you think we have improved the squad? I'm not so sure, and results seem to prove that.

I've always had great respect for so many of the posters on this forum. Its always seemed a place of sanity when others were losing their heads.

I just can't believe the stuff I'm reading on here at the moment. Don't get me wrong I can read all the same things elsewhere, I just expect a bit better of GOT, a bit more sense.

God help everton if moyes goes.

*walks away in disgust*

But this seems to be a reoccurring theme with Moyes. As a tactician he is poor, and even when he makes a decision regarding changing things around, it is more often than not too late. He needs help in this area and I wonder if Irvine was the man who formally gave it?
Fair point John,my only criticism of him is that when ever things go wrong we hoof it up field,Hibbert and Neville seemed in a private competition who could kick the ball the furthest.

During the transfer window, some folk on this site, including Danny and other Mods, said that give it time, its not a crisis. Well when does it become one? When we have to beat Fulham away on the last day? sign the [Poor language removed] thing and put it to bed.

Wow.

Didn't know our opinion counted for more than the forum members. Or are you saying something else?

I think all reasonable minded people on here can see that the squad, on paper, has improved from last year. If anyone here thinks that we haven't, then they're fooling themselves.

No one, and I mean no one on here could say that our back four and our keeper would all lose their form and confidence at the same time. No one saw that coming.

Is it a crisis yet?

No.

It'll be a crisis if we're still playing like this in December and are occupying one of the bottom three spots. Now THAT'S a crisis.

We've had poor form in the past and have pulled ourselves out of it. Many Evertonians I've found have short memories when it comes to form. Well gang. Let me let you in on a little secret. This isn't our first rodeo when it comes to poor form. Do tactics play a part? Yeah, sure they do but tactics don't mean a whole lot when your defense can't stop the opposition from scoring.

We haven't had much trouble scoring this year so once we get things worked out in back, I believe we'll get back on track. But not until the defense starts playing like a unit and playing like we know they're capable of playing.

Thats what gets me Bill.on paper we are stronger but on the pitch you would not think so.if its a case of waiting for the newbies to gel in then Nicks criticism about the delay in signings is valid(y)

I wasn't referring to anyone on particular, this fact though is startling and is a crisis, 4 wins in the last 17 to me spells problems, and the sooner it is addressed the better.

I would doubt we are going to qualify for Europe, and to me that would destroy all the good work of the past 3 years.

You can say it's not a crisis, and the players can say they are going to address the defensive errors, but hearing it each week and not seeing any improvement just won't wash anymore.

Looking back to where we were in May - we had every opportunity to move forward. Moyes either dithered in the market or was stubborn on the amount of money to spend on a player. The recruitment of five players within the last week is too late and I blame Moyes. I believe the money was there to at least make one or two good signings that could move the team forward. The new signings need time and I blame Moyes for more or less using league matches to get them to gel. All pre-season was wasted and we are now a few months behind - it the manager who makes the tactics, selects the squad and which players to target. If these don't work the blame lies with the manager. Sometimes changes is just what is needed in order to move forward - perhaps Moyes time has come?

Yep, I'm hasten to agree. We can keep saying Moyes is the saviour, but results don't lie, and how many times did we actually put in a brilliant performance under Moyes? Not that many games in 6 years. Certainly not enough to warrant a huge contract, which he is insulting the fans by stalling on.

What is really doing my head in is the ability to change a game, to turn it on its head? To make that bold substitution 20 minutes in when its clear things are not right. To say Neville, your not good enough to play or captain the side. To completely rip into the players from the touchline. There are so many things he is not doing right now, because the buck lies with him.

He takes training, he picks the side, he formulates the tactics. He's not a great tactician. How long do we have to put up with the long ball when the backs are against the wall. We have Arteta and one of the brightest young European midfielders, why are we by-passing them?

We have one of the best finishers in the Premiership, why are we not getting it into his feet in the box?

It was clear to me today from the offset that we were not going to win. I knew from the first minute, as did Cal, that we were not going to win. The tactics were shocking. Then the second half started and I expected to see a difference, what was the first thing that happened? Ball back to the defenders and a big hoof up to Yakubu, who isn't that tall.

Something needs to change, and who would really be that disappointed if Moyes didn't sign his contract? I would hazard a guess that less would be disappointed now then they would have been prior to us losing to Fiorintina.

I have to agree Nick we handed it to them ,playing with one striker sent them the we are scared of you message,I just felt we should have took the initiative ourselves.I think its sad when a 8 year old asked me grandad why are we kicking the ball up there ,we have no one there?the joke is what tactics he knows come from Everton in the community(y)

Problem is Nick, who would come and replace him? I understand the frustration with Moyes. He frustrates the hell out me on many occasions. But he's improved us and raised our expectations. The stuff about him being a poor tactician is correct. But he's got other virtues. He's a great motivator, pretty shrewd in the market and has, at least until this point, been capable of generating fan interest. The fans love him, which is a revenue spinner. The only person I know would jump at the job is Big Sam. He's a decent manager, but negative and probably quite dishonest. Who else is there? Who would take on the reins at Everton. And I mean serious candidates, not candidates which are the result of wishful thinking.

I more or less said the same the other day at the moment we are not likely to get a better manager and by the same token he wont get a better club, but maybe we could bring in a more tactical minded assistant to help him as he never has a plan B(y)
