Knee-Jerk Reaction or Wake Up Call?

Yakubu is now in the same trap that AJ and BT were in before, shackled by the manager's lone striker tactics. It is the manager you should be looking to not the players. We have on paper good strikers who started well and ulitmately failed, is the Yak next in the line.

I really cannot understand the managers tactics in a game like this especially at home. As for his contract it has been sent back for a ppoint or two to be clarified or revised.

I don't want him out, I think he's very effective manager and I do think his heart is in it. I've never doubted that.

The football has to change though, today was embarassing and it has been for a while now. He seems unable to make his teams string a few passes together unless it is at full strength.

The football needs to improve big time.

If you want Moyes out, fair enough. But please dont point the finger and say we are where we are because he hasn't signed a contract. I think he deserves a bit more respect than that after 6 years of toil at a club run off the pitch like a pub team.

I havent heard or read anyone saying that. But it certainly hasn't helped.

Time to either commit or leave.

I think we deserve abit of respect from Moyes, after being told 6 months ago that a contract is being discussed, then again 2 weeks ago. He should respect the fans and sign or say why he isnt.

It's always being mentioned now. It's the biggest drum getting beaten against the manager right now, and something you laid heavy emphasis on yourself in your opening post.

Dont get me wrong - I'm not a "Moyesiah" sychophant. I know he has his faults and we could do better tactically with a more astute manager. Whether this club's board could attract and recognise a replacement like that is another question.

As I say, I hope he walks after Thursday because the flames of crisis that will sweep over this club with our season over by late September deserves to be licking about the feet of that board of directors, not a man who has been carrying them for 6 years.

I really couldn't be bothered about the contract, it doesn't effect what's happening on the pitch.

I want him to get it sorted on the pitch, if he wants to sign the contract or not is up to him. I'm sure he will but there's negotiating involved and these things take time.

Get is sorted on the pitch please, that's all I ask.

Danny i compleatly disagree, i think we would still be relegation fodder without Moyes. What Moyes has done is nothing short of remarkable, if you look at his overall net spending at the heights we have hit its miraculous and nothing short of fine management.

Im not naieve enough to think that hes not without his his faults his tactics today and against Legie were abysmal and the fact he is reluctent to change them midgame is so frustrating. A five man midfield compleatly dominated by a four man midfielder which included a centre forward is ridicullous and the errors the defenders are making are basci training ground stuff, but i beleive he will still get it right, it pains me to say it but we were outplayed today and they deserved their win.

However despite this it would be the height of loonesy to turn on David Moyes, frankly we will be lucky if he sign on and really he is holding all the cards so in a way your suggestion is right. But for me he is the best pound for pound manger in the Prem so he has every right, i beleive he has sense of loyalty towards us and a genione affection for the club and i also beleive he has earned our trust to beleive his word so i dont doubht he will sign his contract, whats morre hes given the players his word and he definitely wont break that.

I do feel that maybe we have hit the glass ceiling in terms of devlopment is it possible for this spuad to break into the top four, im not sure anymore without the funds. Its clear the teamare playing without and rythem, confidence and cohesian at the moment. But that said Moyes has to take responsibility, its beggers beleif he played a five man midfield and spent 90 mins hitting the ball over there heads. Yes he is as culpable as the players at this point but judgeing him on longevity he is not only vital for the club hes the absolute heartbeat! So a bit knee jerk for me.(y)

But this seems to be a reoccurring theme with Moyes. As a tactician he is poor, and even when he makes a decision regarding changing things around, it is more often than not too late. He needs help in this area and I wonder if Irvine was the man who formally gave it?

It would be nice to know more about the club as a whole I think. I've long advocated closer ties between the club and groups such as this one.

It's a simplistic example, but look at how accurate the database is on Football Manager. None of the stats are compiled by professional scouts (to the best of my knowledge) yet a dissparate group of amateurs can produce something very good. Be great if the club could utilise the knowledge within us all to help out in that and many other ways.

I don't think anyone can have any kind of knee jerk reaction without it being backed up with hard solid facts.

Played 8 games
Won 2
Scored 11
Conceded 16

During the transfer window, some folk on this site, including Danny and other Mods, said that give it time, its not a crisis. Well when does it become one? When we have to beat Fulham away on the last day?

We have gone from a high level of optimism, excitement, and dare I say it high expectations! To sheer negativity, boredom and fear. Why? because of the following:

A. We have not replaced squad players
B. We have not improved the squad
C. Moyes will have you believe that he was unable to work with the squad because he had to sign players?
D. For some reason the defence has forgotten where they are playing.
E. Moyes has not signed his contract.

Now you can say what you like about Carsley not being there, but I actually think that is a cop out. We are losing goals because our back 4 are losing position, concentration and are making far too many mistakes.

I actually believe the squad are suffering from Moyes not signing his contract. That level of uncertainty is most definitely having an effect on the squad.

Something needs to happen, now. Not next week, next month. If I was BK I would force Moyes to sign or I would like for another manager, because what the [Poor language removed] is he delaying for?

Of course he will say that it was no big deal, it wasn't the most important thing for the club, or for him, and that he wanted to get the squad sorted before he dealt with any business, well bollocks. Its definitely effecting things, and if its no big deal, sign the [Poor language removed] thing and put it to bed.

I agree with you on some points Ghost. I actually think that its Moyes not signing his contract thats creating a bit of instability and it can affect the side and is.

However, Ghost, I dont think we have
A. We have not replaced squad players
B. We have not improved the squad

We have replaced Johnson with Saha, definitely a better player and I think he will prove to us his worth when he gets a few starts. Carsley was replaced with Fellaini/Castillo. There hasnt been drastic improvement in terms of new players, but Fellaini/Castillo in good time will prove to be players with more needed ability to add to the side and Saha could prove much better than Johnson.

The defense needs shaping up. Jagielka seems to be the only defender stepping up to the plate at the moment.
