I personally think he should be kept at the club this season. Use him as Siggy's understudy in the #10 role. His versatility to be able to play on either wing will help also. Especially if Bolasie and Mirallas are to be sold/loaned out.

I am assuming that MS has been given the low down on all the best kids by Unsy. He will give them all a good run out to assess for himself. Hopefully Dowell can take his chance.

Spot on, as evidenced by the fact that Browning and Galloway are with the U23s , somebody has been giving MS the gen on the youngsters to allow him to differentiate between say Pennington and Browning.
A lot then depends on whether the likes of Dowell can play in the style Silva wants his team to play. Despite Kieran having a good preseason last year our then Dutch Master obviously wasn’t convinced. Silva will surely have seen the spectacular goals and know he has that in his locker, so it may not matter if he doesn’t repeat them this preseason so long as he’s doing whatever it is Silva demands of him.

If he is going to become a PL player he's as far off now as he has ever been.
For all his undoubted ability he continues to be defined by his all to obvious flaws.
There is still hope but it is beginning to fade.
