According to The Athletic: "The general view in the game is that Thelwell has done a decent job in tough conditions. Under him, player identification, on the whole, has been positive, but a lack of funds has often led to sticking plaster solutions."

I think that's a fair assessment.

In the same article, it said we are slightly underperforming in terms of what we should be doing with the wages we're paying. Will be interesting to see if the change in manager will improve that

Using the calculations in that article, they say that we're getting 0.35 ppg less than what our wage bill should be achieving. I think we're on 0.89 ppg currently, so adding the 0.35 would have us on 1.24 ppg which would be level with Spurs currently in the table. That seems to be roughly where we were under Dyche last season. So based purely on that, last season Dyche had us about where we should've been and there's been a drop off this season.

ye don’t we only have one foreign loan left?
We have four loan players a midfielder, a winger from abroad - & Harrison & Broja maxed out - Broja a complete crock - Ipswich knocked him back we signed him & his history of injuries was there to see - we are now paying him now we have started to use him a plain stupid deal IMO send him back - he looks class for 15 minutes if that .....

(Thelwell was very much in for Kudus the season before he signed for West Ham. We had a £12million deal agreed but then United signed Anthony and Ajax blocked the Kudus move)

Yep. Just seems odd to me that I’m not allowed to count Maupay, Beto, Chermiti, O’Brien, Harrison, Lindstrom etc as Thelwell signings, but I am allowed to count Kudus who he failed to sign.

He’s had a tough job but he’s been mediocre at best.

Understand the financial situation he has had to deal with but he has committed us to spending over coming years on players for whom there was no semblance of how they would fit in. In my view this is incompetence on his behalf.
