Are Swansea at risk of going bust in the foreseeable future if they get relegated? Are Leeds?
Are we?
Seriously though?
Bust as in we’d sell all our assets and not be able to pay our creditors?
We own one and a half stadiums, and the leases for the land which they’re built on outright.
We have multiple player assets we could sell for decent fees including Pickford Godfrey Onana Iwobi
Branthwaite Calvert Lewin, Moise Kean.
We have relatively little external debt as Moshiri continues to fund both the stadium and any annual losses.
We are also apparently bringing new investors on board
The only way we go bust is if Moshiri stops funding us and suddenly demands the club pays all his money back (pretty much the same risk most individually owned clubs carry)
If we go down we’d have to sell players and massively reduce expenditure as all clubs do. We’d still get the parachute payments though at first.
Yes we’re at risk of not complying with financial regulations, yes we’re at risk of making huge losses if we go down.
But I think we have a lot of levers to pull yet before we’d be at risk of completely going bust.
