Some good comments on the radio and tv by the "experts" today.
Most saying that we are a good team who have a depth of squad (including Mirallas) and that players want to play for the club and manager
I'm not sure many of us would have thought this about KM a couple of months ago.
Hope he does stay because he is a great footballer on his day.

What that chart actually shows is what a waste of possession long range free kicks have become in general.
Even the best of them is firing the ball high, wide or not very handsome on 82% of occasions.
It seems every direct free kick from up to forty yards out these days is regarded as a penno for these guys who score from them once in a blue moon.
I would love to see a return to the days when coaches worked on clever little routines aimed at getting a runner in behind the defence with a sight of the white of the goalkeeper's eye.
Mix this with the odd blaster from a Baines or a Mirallas and you keep the opposition guessing as to what you are going to do at a free kick.
It has all become so predictable.

Quite possibly. Never really got a strong sense that Martinez likes him all that much - he's far more of an individual than a team player, which doesn't suit us at all.
Impact sub/good squad player seems to be his role for the foreseeable. If that's still the case next summer he'll probably be off, which is understandable for all concerned.

I should say I still really like him. And if it was me I'd play him every game.
But yeah, reckon the boss has a bit of an issue with him. Not that I could know for sure of course.
Yeah, me too. I'd say he's one of the most talented wingers we've had in the PL era, but that's like saying he's one of the smartest people at an EDL event.
And yeah, pure speculation. I just think he prefers players who look for the pass rather than going for glory most of the time. Case in point would be Deulofeu - amazing individual talent but developing more and more into a team player.
He certainly seemed to be a player with a different attitude last Saturday. He wanted to be involved and was trying to make things happen even though I think that at 4-0 the drive had somewhat gone out of our effort.
Of course if you were very cynical you might say that the transfer window is edging nearer again.

Never understood the notion of moving in the Jan before a major tournament in order to get your game for your country. Surely you're better off staying, getting your chance and taking it where you're settled than unsettling your family and hoping you click with a new team.
Hope KM does the latter as he will get into the first XI for a good run at some stage especially with Xmas and the cups.

He looked very motivated (and talented) when he came on last Saturday. It's amazing what competition for places can do vis-a-vis galvanising a player.
KM seems to be drifting from the international scene , albeit from a superbly talented Belgian squad. He only made the last squad because of a withdrawal.
I don't know if this is happening because he is not playing well enough or because he is not playing regular first team football every week.
I do think that his international chances would improve if he were playing every week and scoring a few goals.

Surely the risk of staying where he is now and not getting a look in (and rightly so by the way) is more of a risk.

If he was training with the U21s I'd understand but he's getting on the pitch, he just hasn't looked in form bar the last game. Not like he's frozen out or anything.
He'll come good.
