Transfer Rumour Kalidou Koulibaly

There's the one that got away. We should have been all over Alderweireld after his first season in England. It was infuriating to see him got to Spurs for £11m while we had to endure the likes of Alcaraz sabotaging our back line.

Back on topic.... VVD edges Koulibaly in my mind. He has prem experience, and we know he works well with Koeman.

And he definitely speaks English which always helps.

...a beast with a Rolls Royce engine. 25 years of age who looks like he plays left side of CB partnership. Imagine him AND VvD, I reckon I could play in goal behind those two.

Stopping the opposition scoring is the key to building a side that wins trophies. You can have the best front line and in the business but that does not guarantee success. Watching Man U yesterday showed that a strong keeper and a disciplined defence can get results anywhere.

We have no chance of winning stuff until we become hard to beat on the road at the very best sides. I am certain Koeman will focus on getting the defence/keeper sorted this close season.

He's been playing LCB and RCB because he's 2 footed and also, his partners keep changing at Napoli so he switches.

If we signed those two then were in business

Sadly at best I think it's one or the other, one partnered with a good solid reliable cb would still be formidable though.

If we could get both do you think we would turn it down?

I think the issue will be convincing either or both to come.

Honestly mate, even on my most optimistic day, i can't imagine we could actually afford both players, you'd be looking at a 100m outlay on just two centre backs, we have quite a few positions needing fixing, and on napkin math we 'may' raise around 80-90m (top end estimate) in sales this summer without Lukaku or Barkley being sold.

To all intents yup.

Same way if we manage to get 20m for McCarthy (which Newcastle offered in January) - we've effectively swapped him for Schneiderlin for no cost.

When Walsh etc go on about value for money and being cost effective, that's what i think about, basically upgrading various parts of the team for no net cost is what every club should strive for as much as it can do.
Can't agree more mate. It's how clubs should be run.
