Joy Deprived

I am not sure I envy the relative "success" of all the relegated and promoted teams. But each to their own. I find it hard to believe every other of the 91 or whatever teams has won a trophy or been promoted though
As we’ve already been over, it is true, but I don’t know why you find it difficult to believe? Of the 92 clubs in the league this season, 18 either won a trophy or were promoted last year alone. This year city have won the league cup, Coventry, Lincoln, Cardiff and Bromley have sealed promotion and Luton won the FL trophy, so 24 of the other 91 have done it within the last year or so, with the potential for up to 9 more to join them over the next couple of weeks depending on how things pan out. There’s a real possibility of over a third of teams doing it within a 12 month period but you find it difficult to believe that the other 2/3 have done it in over a quarter of a century?!

Fine I accept the stats.i only said it was hard to believe at face value. Equally one day I hope we achieve the success of Lincoln cardiff and Bromley. Hopefully we can get relegated soon so we're included in the ups and downs of these other footballing giants. I pray we win the fl trophy one day if we qualify. I have to say one thing, I wouldn't swap a moment with any of these absolute losers who can only dream to one day aspire to be Everton football club. The originals and the best. Goodnight barstewards xx

Nobody’s saying that though are they? Literally nobody is advocating being relegated to get promoted, it’s just a little ‘fun fact’ that highlights the weird position we currently hold in the footballing landscape. A complete lack of any tangible success for over 30 years while sharing a city with a club that has probably won 20 trophies in the same time frame and seems to routinely beat us with injury time goals just for a laugh puts us in a very niche spot in the pyramid.

There’s no need to get precious about it, I’ve just renewed my season ticket for the 33rd time in a row, you don’t need to convince me not to ditch us for Peterborough. We’re just throwing a bit of a pity party after yet another kick in the teeth, if we can’t laugh at ourselves there’s plenty of people who’ll do it for us.

This why I want Iraola. I want to see my team attack and try and win every game we play no matter who the opposition is. On the front foot from the off. I can take losing, it’s part of the game but I want a manager who makes us believe we can keep getting better and better.
In my lifetime of watching football since the late 70’s all the teams that have won leagues start from square one, Hence the need for a new manager. They go home and away with the intent to win at all costs. Never happy with a point. Yes you will lose and concede but as time goes on it becomes the norm and before you know it teams are happy to get a point off us on their ground. That’s how I remember the Kendal days. And is that not the attitude of the R/S. Ferguson utd. And the rest.
If we don’t have this attitude we will never get where we want to be. Settling for stability constantly, being happy to get Conference league ffs. Iraola looks that guy to me and if he can’t do it after 3 years of backing we get someone else.
Moyes has served his purpose. This summer it’s time to move on.
Spot on.

Honestly though we haven't done a tap in 30 years. This fanbase is crying out to be happy, look at the way we welcomed the team in on Sunday.

Unfortunately the truth hurts like the way some blues couldn't accept Bill Kenwright was single handily ruining this club while pretending to be its number one fan. If you prefer to live in ignorant bliss don't come on here gaslighting everyone else that we are just "bed wetters".

Nice to see the normal Everton excuse makers all find us not winning anything for 30 years hilarious.

I truly believe we are the most joy deprived fanbase in the entire country.

We don’t win silverware.

We hardly ever win a derby.

We just exist in the league we play in.

We regularly go out of the cups in embarrassing fashion.

The majority of football we’ve had to put up with has been terrible on the eye.

We have to sell our best young players because we can’t match their ambition.

Is there anyone more joy deprived than us? I always thought Ipswich were up there but they have had plenty of recent enjoyment.

Anyone else?
We exist in two states, crisis and stasis. Neither of those things inspire a great degree of joy.

Supporting Everton isn't easy, but at least it has at least in past brought us together as fans. I think there's a balance between delusion and accepting mediocrity. Our performances in cup competitions have been diabolical, losing to RS reserves in FA cup was particularly painful. All I ask for is players give 100%, I remember losing at home to Sunderland when they were bottom is Martinezs 1st season and players got clapped off pitch because they gave their best. However sometimes I think players, club and fans have accepted mediocrity. I remember a fan getting cut off by Sharp on radio city for saying that we should of beat Fiorentina. Which I felt was just him telling Everton fans, "know your place". Hopefully better times are ahead for Everton.
