People know that the broadcasting of footy is an entertainment business, right?
So, pundits are given jobs for a range of skills, likability, personality, humour, are they articulate, are they comfortable in front of a camera, are they relatable…etc.
When there’s talk of tokenism, or meritocracy, there’s an unspoken element which is “that woman, that black person couldnt have got the job based on merit, how could they? It must be something else”, as if they know the selection process or criteria.
