To the cynic it could look like you haven’t got five or six gettable names or are buying yourself time ? For the record I don’t think he’s the greatest keeper around , nor that he’s infallible or less controversially that he hasn’t got a mistake in him because we see it . It’s just if you’re going to say there are five or six players , in Germany and Italy , we can get who are better it seems only reasonable to name them.

For me, he is a very good goalkeeper but lacks concentration and has an ego when he shouldn’t. He needs to realise this is still the learning stage and you get criticised for making huge errors, which was what happened Sunday evening. I think we need a proper backup on the bench ready to take his place, at the moment he has no competition. Let’s see how he fares for the rest of the season.

I just think if you say I can think of 5-6 better keepers who we can sign and you’re asked who and you say “I can’t be bothered telling you “ in two or three different posts it seems a bit mad . You’re going back and forth saying I’m not telling you because I can’t be bothered going back and forth but its not like anyone has any right to demand it .

I don't particularly like him, he's very much an England boy and the media darling because of the run in the World Cup.

He's a good goalkeeper though, the problem he has is that the media hype him up and it appears he believes this hype.

He probably thought he could catch that ball and dive to the ground with it making himself look impressive rather than doing the basic thing of tipping it over.

Shame really for him because he made a good save earlier in he game from Shaqiri. That's him at his best. Unfortunately we saw him at his worse in stoppage time.
