When we got James McFadden we were told he was the "Scottish Wayne Rooney".

Looking at this Russell's goal record, he doesn't seem worth any sort of gamble. He'd have to be tearing the league apart to justify any sort of decent fee for me.

He may be good but whenever you bring someone in from the SPL you have to take on board the fact that the league as a whole is League One standard. And nine goals a season at that level isn't impressive. Jelavic had 30 in 45...

Jelavic got his playing for a team that created more chances, almost twice as many, than other sides. He was also Rangers' main striker, whereas Russell is a second striker, playing behind Daly, as opposed to being the main goal threat.

He is of a higher standard and more of a team player than David Goodwillie who Dundee United sold to Blackburn for £2.8m. Only 21yo with a long term contract at tannadice. Have the feeling that this would be a £2m+ add-ons deal.
As an aside he was impressive at Tannadice against us pre-season.
