35mil ? ....very cheap that , mate your talking about Englands centre half & possible captain for the next 10 years. Tell them its 50 mil to start or they should look elsewhere then.If he stays this season & caps it off with England in next summers Euros that price will look very cheap indeed......Sterling 49 mil ?
I like your thinking but you know as well as I do that if we get a 35m bid he is gone.

I disagree, it would take more than that.

it's not just a sale, it's a statement.

12 months down the line he will be worth another 10 on top of that due to being English and young and with his attributes.

Only an idiot would sell now for less than 40M IMO.

Prepare for the backlash. Bigger clubs you having a laugh you would still be in the 2nd division. Only for being bankrolled by Russian oligarchs how many league. Titles. Have you won still behind Everton with all that. Money...mourino out of order tapping. Up our players hope the fa look into this if you can sell luiz for 50 million to psg what's john stones worth a lot more I would say

I present to you Monsiour William Kenwright.

You are only bigger in the sense that you have a chairman who throws silly money at it to give you a massive advantage in a day when TV lap it up and football is a ridiculous 24 x 7 over dramatised soap opera, nothing to be proud of, unless you are a complete melt of course who gets off on this kind of thing.

In no other way, shape or form are Chelsea bigger than Everton.

Hope that clears that up for you.

That is all that I have to say on the matter ;)

Nothing to be proud of ?? So Chelsea fans that have followed them for as long as we have our team, cant be happy and proud that they are now blowing teams like Arsenal, who spent YEARS pitying them !?!?!?!

This is a defining case this. If and when Stones rejects Chelsea, it's a win for Everton, but also a win for football.

*liverpool fans are watching this with wonder. 'can everton really provide such happiness to stones while we couldn't do it with Wee wee?'

As my name suggests, I'm here in peace.

Been reading this thread on and off since with we first linked, although many fans have been linking us with John Stones for a while now. Replacing John Terry is one of the 3 most important jobs facing this club at the moment and despite a huge investment, there ain't one coming through the ranks so we have to look outside. 18 months ago it was Varane, but there's little chance of him leaving Madrid so Stones became the main target and with good reason. His quality is plain to see and the potential is huge.

Now I've seen some criticism of the way we've handled this but I'm not sure that we've done anything out of the ordinary. We made a bid, it was rebuffed and we're readying another. Cahill's comments are nothing in my opinion and Mourinho gave an honest answer to a question.

On the other hand, Martinez came out at the start of May and admitted it was a possibility that some of the young stars could leave when he said
‘I don’t want to sell the dream, “Oh, we need to keep these players”, because that’s not modern football,
so it's hard to be surprised when a bigger team (and I know that term offends some but I'm trying to be realistic here) comes in for one. Why not say they were definitely staying? If it's just more money that's required then why not say that?

And it's not like other teams don't employ similar tactics. You yourselves were charged with tapping up Lascelles at Nottingham Forest weren't you? I'm not saying we're whiter than white in this because I don't think any team is nowadays. It's just modern football.

Anyway, I wish you all the best for the coming season and I really do hope we get John Stones because this kid has talent and I honestly think he'd learn so much playing next to John Terry and under Jose Mourinho.

If he's to be sold, and eventually the money will be to much to turn down, I'd rather it was Utd he goes to. He's a smart lad and deserves to be playing for one of the worlds leading clubs with a rich history of winning things and not a nouveau riche club whose history only started 12 years ago.

I expect given his talent and potential Stones and his agent have predicted this scenario and already have a career path plotted out for him which doesn't included being conned by Chelsea's manager and players into pushing through a transfer that would mean he's unlikely to fullfil his destiny to play for a footballing superpower.

In short he deserves better than Chelsea and Mourinho and your club and managers public pursuit of him shows this clearly.

No sorry I was wrong....having such a huge financial advantage is clearly something they should be proud of as they really did earn it.....oh no wait, they didn't, some Russian crook just needed somewhere to sink his cash into.

Arsenal are a proper football club, don't even try and compare media friendly FC to them FFS!

I agree Doug we do need to keep him for a bit yet though as this season has to be a good one for us three new signing minimum at least without losing Stones! If he goes eventually I hope its abroad to Barca!
